WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP). - - President George W. Bush insisted to the Congressmen who approved a plan of amnesty for the undocumented immigrants, adding that he wants to take to the measure to Mexico this week as and effor to prove the compassion of the United States.

Bush said yesterday that the legislation, 245(i), will increase the security in the border. The proposed ammendment requires more unalterable identity cards, stricter entrance examinations and the monitoring of the foreign students and visitors of interchange to make sure that they do not violate his conditions of permanent residence. The legislation would also indicate that the USA is worried and wants to maintain as intact the Mexican families. "We believe in Family Values", said Bush to reporters at the end of a cabinet meeting. The law also extends a term to give to hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants the opportunity to ask for residence without leaving the United States first. It was approved by the House of Representatives and waits the approval of the Senate.

Some conservatives are against to the programs of amnesty for the illegal immigrants saying that this sanctions illicit border crossings.

Although the law concerns undocumented immigrants, Bush three times talked about legal immigrants while it promoted it. A spokesman said that Bush meant the immigrants who fill the requirements to get to be resident legal.

"I depart for Mexico. I want to demonstrate to our friends Mexican that we are compasivos with people that live here legally, that we do not divide the families of the people who are here legally ", Bush affirmed. Perhaps the only word that does not come across is "undocumented immigrants". This should correctly transfer linguistically as: ILLEGAL ALIENS, i.e. lawbreakers of U.S. Federal statute.

Agreed, PRS. Like any immigrant group, Mexicans will have an "adaptation curve," but most of them are more than willing to adapt to American life and take advantage of the opportunities here. No - not welfare, but small businesses, education for their kids, etc.

I think that a freer flow of people can be mutually beneficial to both Mexico and the US. But it should go both ways. For one thing, what about making it easier and safer for Americans to live in or start businesses in Mexico?

Many Americans are shortsighted on this. Most Latin American immigrants want to learn English and be like anybody else. It's only the various educational establishment folks and other Democrat minions who don't want this to happen.

Conservatives should seize this opportunity. If people come here, it's because they want to be part of this country; if they send money to their families in their home countries, their families want their countries to be more like ours. We are building up support - and don't forget, these folks have the same Judeo-Christian background that we do, and in many cases, they take it a lot more seriously. I think Bush understands this, but I there there are a lot of people on FR who don't.

More mass immigration? To what end? We have plenty of Americans, that are out of work, that need those job opportunities.

We don't need any more cheap labor to drive wages down.

We don't need a mercenary army, either.

We don't need any additional immigration. Americans can populate this country, just fine, all by themselves.

It wasn't so long ago that the liberals were all concerned about the devastion that would be caused by over-population in the United States. What changed?

Illegal immigrants from Mexico appear to be one of the least loyal groups of people in support of the United States immediately after the 9-11 attacks.

This is supported by polls of the population segment here and also in Mexico. It is just 'take', 'take', 'take'.

And besides, what is being done is illegal.

Why not admit it, you'd be fuming if Clinton pushed this stuff and you might well change your position if Bush changed his (to common sense.)
