Policy Think Tank Calls for End to "Virtual News Blackout" On UN Taxation Conference Next Week

Decrying the "virtual news blackout" on next week's UN conference to impose global taxes, Tom DeWeese, president of the American Policy Center, a think tank, has written to President Bush, urging him to resist all such plans.

A United Nations conference this month will ask world leaders, including President Bush, to consider global taxes to finance increased foreign aid spending.

The March 18-22 International Conference on Financing for Development in Monterrey, Mexico, is organized by the U.N. with the participation of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization.

"There has been a virtual news blackout concerning the boldest, most dangerous scheme to deprive the United States and all other nations of their sovereign rights, to take over the entire world's financial systems, to tax all energy sources, air transportation, and other aspects of the lives of the world's population," says DeWeese.

"This would be the foundation of a global government run by the United Nations", warns DeWeese. "With trillions of dollars in taxes, the UN will be free to ignore all nations, including the United States of America. The United States fought a Revolution to resist taxation without representation and the UNs plans will deal a death blow to our nation."

In a letter to President Bush, DeWeese says, "As the International Conference on Financing for Development meets in Monterrey, Mexico, (March 18-21) you will come under great pressure to support United Nations' schemes for global taxation. You are urged to vigorously resist them and condemn any plans for global taxation."

"You must soundly reject these proposals and instead promote successful American ideals that will allow other nations to build their own economic success," said DeWeese in his letter to the President.

"Rather than following American principles of private enterprise, private property rights and limited government to successfully achieve these goals, the UN proposals seek only to loot America's wealth in a Robin Hood-style theft; robbing from the rich to give to the poor."

DeWeese quoted UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's clearly announced intentions with regard to global taxation. In a report entitled Existing Proposals for Innovative Sources of Finance, "Annan outlined plans for global taxes on, among other things, international currency transactions, air line transportation, the internet, energy and natural resources."

"The United Nations has no claim to these sources of revenue; rather they are the products of private individuals, private companies or sovereign nations. Only sovereign governments have the power to tax," said DeWeese. "The United Nations seeks to become a global government."

"Mr. President, you must not allow the UN to collect a single dollar of global taxes. For once begun, there will be no way to ever stop it. The United States is the most powerful force on earth. If our nation opposes these global tax schemes, then they will not become reality."

All you lovers of Saint George take note: he's about to sell out the U.S. again. I'll take bets on his supporting a worldwide taxing authority (i.e.: theft of your property without representation, as if representation made it any better). I'll double any bets--I'm not doing well in the office college basketball pools. The Kid.

bull-donkey. GW will not allow it. He knows that taxation without representation would be asking for another revolution to save our constitution and reaffirm our declaration of independence, this time from the UN.

If it does pass, that may be the last straw that finally gets us out of the UN for good.

W, like his daddy, has no respect for the United States. The Bushites can't see this because of the sand in their eyes. He's turning into a great war president, with his excellent handling of a complex international situation, but domestically, he's another of a long line of globalists. And they do not have our best interests in mind. The Kid.

If there's a news blackout, and the boobs don't see mention of this on television, nothing will happen. Sports is more important to your average American. The Kid.

Globalist Taxers Want Your Money

Urgent: Worldwide taxation is the centerpiece of a United Nations conference starting Monday. If the globalists get their way we'll pay taxes to foreigners elected by no one. Contact President Bush and your senators and congressmen before it's too late: Send an Urgent PriorityGram.

Globalist Taxers Want Your Money

Wes Vernon, NewsMax.com

Saturday, March 16, 2002

WASHINGTON – World Government is pounding on our door and demanding that the U.S. surrender its sovereignty and let the United Nations take over our lives. Worldwide taxes would be imposed by people in far-off lands elected by no one.

This is not conspiracy theory. This is fact. It is happening right now.

Alarmed citizens are bombarding the White House with demands that the U.S. say no to global taxes. Global taxation is the centerpiece of a four-day United Nations conference starting Monday. The gathering is to consider recommendations of a special High Level Council.

The mail pouring into the White House results from the efforts of those activist groups that have pierced the heavy curtain of silence erected by the media establishment, which is taking no note of the implications of the meeting in Monterrey, Mexico.

American Policy Center, for example, has issued a bulletin saying, "Quite simply, the UN wants the ability to tax citizens of the United States and other nations on an individual basis."

Think: Global IRS.

A new international organization is envisioned, Economic Security Council (ESC).

Henry Lamb, chairman of Sovereignty International and a walking encyclopedia on world government efforts from all directions, says ESC is intended as the vehicle for formulating the global tax. This would be accomplished through "information sharing" coordinated by the United Nations to track economic activity of every person and every business.

Known as the Tobin Tax, named after the Yale economist who came up with the idea, the purpose is to provide the United Nations with "independent funding." The aim here is to free the U.N. from those annoying elected U.S. officials who insist on accountability to the taxpayers who foot the bills.

The Tobin Tax, an exchange of currency among nations, is estimated to yield more than 100 times the U.N.’s current budget. No more arguing with people such as Sen. Jesse Helms who have led the drive to withhold payment of U.S. dues until the U.N. becomes less irresponsible. Once this is enacted, the watchword would be just pay up and don’t ask questions.

With that kind of money, the United Nations would be able to call the shots as it pleases.

The tax aims to slow or stop speculation on exchange rates, according to Lamb. Supposedly, money would be taken away from the "greedy" (i.e., the successful) who earn profits, and redistributed to Third World countries.

Supplementing or perhaps an alternative to the Tobin Tax would be a worldwide tax on fossil fuels as a preventive measure against so-called "global warming."

That the "global warming" scare has been shown to be one of the biggest hoaxes of modern times is irrelevant. World government-minded left-wingers need to keep the mythology alive to get their hands on your money without seeking your approval so they can remake the world according to their utopian fantasies.

No Veto

As Sovereignty International points out, "No elected official in the United States [would have] any authority to alter or veto these decisions."

Tom DeWeese, president of American Policy Center, has written President Bush urging him to resist all such international taxation schemes.

"There has been a virtual news blackout concerning the boldest, most dangerous scheme to deprive the United States and all other nations of their sovereign rights, to take over the world’s financial systems, to tax all energy sources, air transportation [another idea being bandied about among the conference planners], and other aspects of the world’s population," writes DeWeese in a release dated Thursday.

As the International Conference on Financing for Development meets in Monterrey, the president will come under great pressure "to support United Nations’ schemes for global taxation," DeWeese warns Bush. "You are urged to vigorously resist them and condemn any plans for global taxation."

The plan would feed on itself. The ESC would create a 23-member council, selected on a rotating basis, no one with veto power, to form a "consensus" process for decisions.

As Lamb notes, "The new ESC, if created, would be little more than a rubber stamp for U.N. bureaucrats" because it would consist of representatives from member countries who are on the receiving end of handouts from an abundantly funded international organization. These members, he observes, would be prime targets for manipulation by a de facto world government.

There are other facets to the 72-page recommendations of the High Level Council, including eliminating "tax competition" among nations. Translation: It’s not fair that socialist countries, which have taxed themselves into the poorhouse, should be at a competitive disadvantage with the United States, whose taxes are comparatively low.

That is reminiscent of efforts by the OECD, the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, about which NewsMax.com has reported.

Clinton's Damage Never Ends

Preparation for the Mexico conference enjoyed the backing of the Clinton-Gore administration. In fact, Clinton Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin represents the United States on this High Level Council. This is the same Robert Rubin implicated in Bill Clinton's Enron scandal.

The Bush administration’s views on all this are unknown. That is what sparked the letter-writing campaign, which DeWeese says is gaining momentum despite the media blackout. Inquiries as to where the White House is going on these issues have elicited mixed signals.

Sovereignty International warns, "Once the United Nations has independent financing, and an adequate stream of revenue to maintain its own standing army, it will be the world government that has been the dream of globalists for the entire century."

That puts a fine point on it. Time is short. President Bush, and members of Congress, need to hear from grassroots Americans.

(End of NewsMax.com article)

=========================================

Actually, Bush should be told not to go to the conference at all. Everyone knows once he's there he will not tell them off, as he should.

I think he knows that if he were to do that, people would scream treason and impeachment. It does make one nervous that he has consistantly refused to give his position on it.

--in a way, I hope they do. I hope that this might finally wake up the US people. Nothing else really has yet. Taxes are seen, unless they sneak them into the normal witholding and you don't get to see the details. Tell ya, if everyone had to cut a check every month to uncah sugar, without the automagical witholding, things would be a lot different. I want them to even try and tax the internet. The Un would get hacked to little tiny shreds, I doubt there's a hacker out there wouldn't want in on that one.

I won't be taking that bet...you are spot on in your observation.

I think Bush will probaly go along with some kind of U.N world tax, all in the guise of "fighting terrorism" of course.
