LONDON (Reuters) - Older men are better lovers and have fewer impotence problems than their younger counterparts, with the "male menopause" a myth pedaled by drug companies to sell their products, according to a British psychologist.
Dr. Lorraine Boule, from Sheffield University in northern England, told the British Psychological Society conference that men became more skilled sexually as they get older, British newspapers reported on Saturday.
"Older men sustain erections for longer, are longer coming to orgasm, and satisfy women better. Sexual activity does diminish with age, but the quality should get better," she was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Boule's conclusions were based on a survey of 185 married professional men aged 30 to 60. While 22 percent of men under 46 suffered erectile problems, only 16 percent of those over 46 did.
She dismissed as nonsense the idea that men needed testosterone as a hormone replacement therapy in the same way that some women take estrogen to ease the effects of menopause.
The male menopause was a myth spread by drug firms to boost the multimillion dollar market for impotence treatments, she said.
"Life should really begin at 40 for those who have the right mindset," the Times quoted her as saying.

Think this is why Liddy smiles more? Wonder what she did while ED was in his life. Just kidding. I really don't want to know. I find both to be repulsive examples of leftist Republicans.

The only thing hurting the sexual performance of older men, is a phenomenon called "older women". LOL. (IB runs for cover) *ROFL* ~hands on me hips~

Since I'm in your age range and you're 71 I first thought, eeewwwww. But then I remembered Secy. Rumsfeld and he's a pretty good looking man, but it's his intellect and personality that is most attractive.
But hey, don't give up on the ladies your age, they're the ones who have things in common with you. Try looking with your heart and mind more.

I'm with you Capriole, one must help with the preservation, of course a little luck and the help of the Good Lord doesn't hurt.
I work out at the gym at least 3 times a week, so you do have to work on it if you want to look and perform the part you want to play. LOL

They didn't need to do a study. All they had to do was ask my twenty "younger" girlfriends. Hey, I can fantasize, can't I? And speak for yourself on the "re-charge" issue.

So very true! We are paying the price of pumping our bodies full of chemicals and artificial substances. While there is a place for short-term therapies in those with significant symptoms, the idea that we should all be popping pills at 80 to pretend we're 20 is ridiculous. Nature has its own wisdom.

Happy Birthday! Hope you get "everything" you want.

"Kids growing up today must assume that adults are incapable of thinking about anything other than sex. " Hmm? Huh? What'd you say? Sex? Oh...yeah, definitely. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. I was daydreaming of sex.

Not according to a recent email I rec'd listing information attributed to Andy Rooney. In the information, he strongly supports and lists reasons why "older women make better lovers."

I think you are making an assumption regarding age (older people) Quite the contrary, I have nothing in common with ladies my age ( unless you want to talk about things that happened in the distant past, other than that, I really don't have anything in common with them) In fact, I am very compatible with the women I date, there is no problem in conversation or actions.
People are different and thats a fact, we all know that.
In the past 5 or 6 years I participated in some surveys done by a Dr. David Weeks out of the Jardine Clinic, Royal Edinburg Hospital in Edinburg, Scotland in regards to what he referred to as "Super People". These are people that defy the normal aging process. I think I qualify in this regard without any doubt. I could pass for 51 or 52 without any question and health wise, I am in top physical condition and not some (as you probably visualize) ole wrinkled guy thats horny. ( Well, I am horny but I'm not wrinkled)LOL
