Rumsfield Says Nuke Leak Violated Law!!
FoxNews

Rumsfield just said that the leak to the LA Times violated the law and that leaks in Washington was a disease. My only thought is YES YES YES! The leaker needs to be tried for treason. We cannot improve our image among other peoples if we are constantly back-stabbed by our own senators and media.

Whoever is responsible should be tried and convicted on the highest possible charge. If it came from a Congresscritter's office and evidence doesn't support a criminal charge, the politician should be pressed to resign, and of course removed from any sensitive committees or positions of leadership. I can imagine a number of Republicans as well as Democrats who might have leaked this.
Politically, the leak helped the President. We have weapons. We have to be prepared for when and how to use them. The media chicken-class are totally out of touch with what America believes and wants from its leadership.

This is so funny. Congress whines all the time that they are not kept updated on things. But if Bush goes after the leaker (who's probably a Democrat), they will complain that it's just a VRWC against Democrats.
To: oldvike
Hope that Bush does not cave in and allows those that leaked be punished.
Fat chance True ... but it sounds like Rummy sent a VERY clear message that the dems are playing a dangerous game with American Lives

Bret Hume and his panel did an analysis of Arkin's involvement and cited him as an Anti-Nuc activist writer in the past who probably published this normal targeting scenerio exercise, mandated by law and commonly updated, as though it was something else to spin it to get the rest of the World worried.
Liberal media, falling under the spell of extreme leftist writers is nothing new.
I would love to see Arkin pulled before a Judge to name his source if this is indeed a National Security breech. Even it he doesn't name his source, its possible he could go to jail for contempt if it was a violation of law and he is covering the violator. Its a win-win deal as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't limit this leak to those in California, simply because they're a California newspaper. They have a Washington bureau (Ron Brownstein comes to mind). It could be *anyone.*

Amnesty for Nuke Leakers! What about Judgeship Confirmation blockers??!!Good morning,Saber.

Yeah, but this sounds like a Congressional Demon-rat aide leak, "without knowledge" of his/her boss. A typical 'rat ploy since their other tactics have failed miserably.
IIRC, it worked for Hazel O'Leary.

Mr Bush signed a memo that limits briefings to the Democratic and Republican leaders of both houses of Congress and to the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee:
Bob Graham, Florida Chairman
Carl Levin, Michigan
John D. Rockefeller, West Virginia
Dianne Feinstein, California
Ron Wyden, Oregon
Richard J. Durbin, Illinois
Evan Bayh, Indiana
John Edwards, North Carolina
Barbara Mikulski, Maryland
House Intelligence Committee Democrats:
Nancy Pelosi, California, Ranking Democrat
Sanford D. Bishop, Georgia
Jane Harman, California
Gary A. Condit, California
Tim Roemer, Indiana
Alcee L. Hastings, Florida
Silvestre Reyes, Texas
Leonard L. Boswell, Iowa
Collin C. Peterson, Minnesota
Richard A. Gephardt, Missouri, Ex Officio

I'm sorry, I don't think is "fun" at all...these people are dangerous and will risk America's safety and our soldier's lives to undermine the Bush presidency. I almost wish they DID have an issue or three instead of their "flailing about." They scare the he!! out of me.
To: Rebelbase
Yes -- this should at least give the NSA, CIA, or FBI a mandate to start investigations on all members of the senate (especially Calif. senators). Catch them red-handed...but hoods on their face and bring them in. One less demon in the senate and we're back on track. If anything maybe we're waiting to see if the GOP can take Calif. before bringing them in.

Amnesty for everyone! One big party.

but it sounds like Rummy sent a VERY clear message that the dems are playing a dangerous game with American Lives Yes, but what Rumsfeld says and what Bush DOES are two entirely different things. I'm gradually losing faith in Bush.... prescription drug plan, no school choice, campaign finance reform(probably), environmental caving-in, a bogus stimulus bill, The Freedom Corps, airport security, amnesty for illegal aliens, yada yada yada the list goes on.
If you honestly think that Bush will call a demonRAT out on the carpet then you're fooling yourself. Sorry.

I guess is that the congressional leaker is from California. My first thought was Henry Waxman.
To: stands2reason
Actually, you are right, little tommys thrashing about is quite scary. His latest demand;Tom Ridge answering to congress instead of The President. He needs to understand that liberalism led indirectly to 9/11 and events before.Another point,Hillary Clinton saw which way the wind was blowing and has made attempts to appear less monstrous than she is,doesnt work on me,but the point is being made, little tommy and the rest of the obstructionists should pay more attention to the very polls the previous adminisration governed by.

Indict them all! This has to stop.
To: Naspino
Hmmmmmm...reports from last night were that the 'leaker' is a staff member of one of the California Senators (Boxer/Feinstein).
To: Stand Watch Listen
This smells a lot more like Boxer than Feinstein. Boxer is tremendously more vicious and partisan.

True ... but it sounds like Rummy sent a VERY clear message that the dems are playing a dangerous game with American Lives Yes, and I personally wouldn't rule out the possibility that this 'top secret report' was planted by the Pentagon as a means to expose/embarrass/make a point or even to test the -- shall we say -- disinformation waters that were disavowed a couple of weeks before? DRum said that they wouldn't lie to the press, but if my theory is right, it still doesn't constitute a lie: it's entrapment on material that wasn't released.
BEYOND THAT, HOWEVER, I'd love to see a test case before the US Supreme Court on the subject of which has greater weight of law: freedom of the press or exposing national security secrets.

I don't share your thoughts on Bush. If the Republicans had the senate none of this would be happening. He might be playing politics; but I think he's primarily acting as an executive officer. He's focused on the war and he allows the other around him to submanage the home front and he's going to keep the senate responsible for legislation. If we're lucky he'll keep support for Dems down through the election and we'll get back the senate. There are 34 senate races this year. Three dems and two reps are vulnerable. I think he's an honorable man; but we need control otherwise every Republican bill will be blocked and will become a target for media outrage. With total control at best you'll just have several Democrate walk-outs which everyone thinks is childish and immature.
