OVER 100 ORGANIZATIONS ASKED TO DROP SUPPORT FOR AMERICAN RED CROSS

The Catholic League is asking over 100 organizations to drop their support for the American Red Cross. Specifically, we are requesting the leaders of allied organizations to alert their members to the decision by the Red Cross Orange County Chapter in Santa Ana, California, to stop students from Orange County High School of the Arts from singing “God Bless America” and “America the Beautiful” at a Red Cross luncheon yesterday.

The national headquarters of the American Red Cross supports the censorship. In a news release on this subject, it exclaims “our sensitivity to religious diversity” noting its “preference for a music program that would be inclusive and not offend different populations participating in this particular event.”

Catholic League president William Donohue commented as follows:

“If this were just a chapter of the Red Cross acting this way, we would be disturbed but would not call for drastic action. But since the headquarters of the American Red Cross is supporting the ban on ‘God Bless America’ and ‘America the Beautiful,’ we are left with little alternative. Sadly, it has become all too common for the high priests of ‘religious diversity’ and ‘inclusiveness’ to resort to gag rules.

“The American Red Cross has every right to adopt the platform of political correctness by censoring the free speech of young men and women who want to honor God and country. And we have every right to ask our friends to send the Red Cross an unmistakable message by refusing to donate one more dime to the organization. Our request is being sent to our allies in virtually every faith community. The time to put an end to this anti-religious madness is now.”

I have heard that also .. but I don't know for sure ... something about how the Red Cross treated the Vets

When you hear it from many vets, there must be some truth to it. Wished I would have asked more questions as to why, but I was just a kid etc. It's just something that always stuck with me.

Six months ago, we gave money to the Red Cross because we thought that it would go directly to the victims. We thought the Red Cross was going to take the money they collected from us and give it directly to the victims. We didn't think that they would hold the money up and dole it out in pieces to the victims. Nor did we think that they would take our money and upgrade computer systems, put in new carpeting or give block grants to avante garde actors on Broadway. They have been absolutely miserly with money that was NOT intended for them. They were to only be temporary caretakers of that money. I for one will NEVER, EVER give them another dime. Nor will I EVER participate in anymore of their blood drives.

Well we have decided to donate to local agencies and when approached by RED CROSS... we will simply take out a $20 and look at it, read "In God We Trust!" and say... "Oopps, I best put this away, I would not wish to offend anyone..." and put my money away

I think its very fitting since if they loathe American patriotism that much they must be evil. I think the Red Axis strings are being pulled by Al-Quaeda. at a small salary of $100,000.00 a year. I figured right then
that they didn't need my money. The President of the
United States salary was $25,000.00 at the time.

Yes, Boyscouts and Salvation Army are good. Interesting that these huge "charitable" organizations(United Way and Red Cross) are now politically correct money machines extorting $ from people and using it to fund the left.

We must defund the left and purge these organizations of the lefties that run them.

As I said in my Post #110, this rumor has been around long enough to achieve urban legend status. In my only contact with a Red Cross coffee line, no GI's were forced to pay.

I'm not trying to start a fight with you (especially in defense of a now discredited organization) but is your statement based on 1st hand experience? Or did anybody you would trust with your life or wife tell you that he personally was forced to pay?

Is there anyone out there who was personally forced to pay the ARC for coffee? I'll accept any 1st hand experience at face value and mend my ways.

Until then, we have enough to put the ARC out of business based on their recent dealings. They used to be good but now they suck.

Seriously, the CROSS is just what we would expect: a symbol of Christianity. These clowns either don't know that or are choosing to ignore their own heritage.

By the way, the Muslim equivalent of the Red Cross is the Red Crescent.

Shocking as that sounds, it would not suprise me to find U.N., terrorists connections to the Red Cross.
