What's the problem with establishing a Palestinian state with a divided Jerusalem as the capital of both Palestine and Israel?

Read it again, it says nothing about a divided Jerusalem. Perhaps we should return the occupied territories of Manhatten and give half of Washington DC to the Talibunnies in return for Arab recognition? You realize of course that Manhatten was taken from the Indians? The Palestinians have as much right to the Jordainan and Egyptian territories captured by Israel as the Talibunnies have on the land taken from the Indians...

What makes you think the Arabs would keep their word?

What makes you think their mantra of "drive them into the sea" will change?

Arabs hated Jews long before Israel was established. Most of them would say "I have no problem with a Jewish state, in Alaska".

Remember when you were a little kid and the bully at school would beat you up for your lunch money promising if you give it to him he will stop pounding you. Did it work? The Arabs were killing Jews long before the 67 war when the territories were Arab owned. This is like a wolf saying If you let me eat your legs you will not get tired running from me, we will be friends. I will even invite you to dinner JOO Boy.

Why give them something they never had, and take it away from the people who have it now? That's a great idea for peace!

"What's the problem with establishing a Palestinian state with a divided Jerusalem as the capital of both Palestine and Israel?"

Very simple. As foolish and self-destructive as Israel has lately become, it will never give up Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, period. Go ask the Almighty.

And a Palestinian state already exists: it is called Jordan, and it--and only it--is the true "Palestinian homeland."

Other than that, no problem at all.

The biggest problem is that that's not what the Palestinians want, and so Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, the PFLP, Fatah, Al-Aqsa, etc. will keep going on their merry jihad way no matter what "peace" agreement the Saudis cook up. They will always have some beef against Israel, no matter what she gives up. They are passionate about killing Jews, not a Palestinian state.

Because it's a trap, not a settlement. Israel will never be allowed to have peace. Arabs want "death to Israel" not peace.

What's wrong with a "Palestinian" "state"?
See my post below.

Jerusalem is the City of David - not Muhammad. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.
Period.

It's a phony proposal... Arabs want no Israel at all. When you look at the Biblical Israel, Jerusalem was its center, its heart. Arabs have no other claim to the land but that they became squatters over time when the Jews were driven from the land and dispersed throughout the world. Israel is not Israel without Jerusalem.

When the nation of Israel was established, it became the cause of Arabs to disallow it. As a consequence, several wars were fought, Israel winning each one. Arabs will propose only a plan which will be rejected out of hand by the Jews, thus creating in the public mind a higher political "morality" for Arab efforts for peace. That "morality" will buy them acceptance for major intervention should Israel refuse. That is what they want.
