Tancredo doubts he can block amnesty-extension bill
Denver Post ^ | March 8, 2002 | Bill McAllister

Friday, March 08, 2002 - WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom Tancredo takes credit for thwarting the Bush administration's last effort to offer partial amnesty to thousands of illegal residents, but Thursday the outspoken immigration foe said he may have been outmaneuvered by the White House.

President Bush has struck a deal with the House leadership to place legislation that offers an extension of amnesty on its consent calendar before Bush heads to Mexico for a state visit next week, the Colorado Republican said.

That action should ensure quick House passage of legislation that Bush has repeatedly sought from Congress. It would allow an undocumented person to receive legal standing, such as a valid green card, by filing a declaration with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

It presumably also would require the person to have been in the United States by a certain date and have filed a declaration with the INS from an appropriate sponsor, such as a relative or employer, and pay a $1,000 penalty.

"The terms are still up in the air," said Dan Stein, executive director of the Federation for American Immigration, a group that has been allied with Tancredo. "We've heard to the effect that the president wants something to bring down to Mexico."

The initial Bush proposal, designed exclusively for Mexicans, once was high on the president's legislative wish list, but it was delayed after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. However, as the president noted Wednesday in a speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, he now is pushing for the extension of the amnesty program known by the section of immigration law that covers it, Section 245I.

The president hailed it as a way to reunite family, separated by the border. "If you believe in family values, if you understand the worth of family and the importance of family, let's get 245I out of the United States Congress and give me a chance to sign it," Bush told the chamber members.

Tancredo, the head of a congressional caucus on immigration issues and proponent of halting virtually all immigration, said he had blocked a previous attempt by Bush to push an extension of the amnesty program through the House. But this time, he said House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., had agreed to place the issue on the suspension, or consent, calendar, making it difficult to defeat the proposal.

The Senate might be more favorable to the bill than the House, expanding the numbers of individuals who can apply, Tancredo said.

It seems that the powers that be are bound and determined to destroy the conservative movement.

Have a nice day Dane. And when you come back to lecture us again, maybe you'll have a better explanation why Americans should accept an invasion by illegal aliens. Look forward to your usual non-response. Not.

"I will sit out the next election or vote 3rd party I just can not take it anymore..the war efforet has become cover to give away America"

Many of us have been thinking and saying this since day one. We have been ridiculed by those who think that Bush can do no wrong. Bush can not be trusted by the right. He is not a conservative. He does intend to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Whats he going to propose next year when the election gets closer? Reperations?

Oh geez, don't give Dubya any ideas, because if he gets it in his stubborn little head that 'it's the right thing to do', he'll bulldoze it through. The fool, I hope to God he is a one-termer after this amnesty passes (I just know it will be).

I never did want to accept the "wag the dog" theory, but the deeper this gets, the more I am beginning to accept it.

Unfortunately the traitor multinational corporations run American foreign policy. They own the media. They own the politicians, including our Presidents. The latest globalist catch phrase is 'it's a shrinking world.' I'll say it's a shrinking world. It will surely be a shrinking world in a few years after some of these new 'Americans' detonate weapons of mass destruction on American soil killing millions of Americans. (G-d Forbid).

Bill Simon is right that the feds have tied the hands of border states on immigration.

So. Cal relative on Border Patrol will affirm that ..there is basically a no chase policy now..if they get a mile away they are free. Also no looking for them in the desert..

It is a sham!

You don't even have a nodding acquaintance with the Constitution, but that doesn't stop you from making references such as the phony claim that immigration is the sole province of the federal government. How about giving us a cite on that one, Article and section?

You remind me of someone at a party who thinks he's devastatingly witty, but he has wet his pants and is too drunk to notice.

You have raised a number of good questions on other replies but this is perhaps, "The Rub"-The issue of illegal immigration & its dillution of the Conservative voice & vote:

To this end the Constitution is subrogated, controveerted & ignored. We are seriously burdened, economically, with their support, dilluted at the polls & in Churches, schools & all institutions. Both political parties seem to work for this openly.

This issue surely evolves from the nebulous & sometimes, not so nebulous concept of NWO. Even if one choose to ignore the internantional political order, the International & Multi-national businesses are obvious & must be served. We are the economic engine that drives the socialist failures around the globe & if they deem cheaper labor to be our best source of oxygen & energy, then it is SO.

It also stems from the evolution of both parties into, virtually, ONE party. They no are no longer compelled to hide this, or, perhaps, have concluded that pursuit of mutual goals no longer compels the older, carefully crafted seperation of party identities.

This is also a reflection of the personality of at least Bush himself, for whom some fanciful political theorists have devised a peculiar new term-communitarian or some such. This is a goofy new nether-world where we forget the strictures of the Constitution & "We all get along by caring & sharing". Kinda like we all sign up for Habitiat for Humanity, & do literally, everything for our fellow man. Caring & sharing out to infinity. One erudite, eloquent, & highly degreed poster on FR was suitably offended when I dismissed this label & he went to great pains to explain this wonderful new class of political thought. Some of them, regretably, believe it. I really don't blame the poster, an academician or writer or what-ever. Like the dim-witted occupants of colleges of education, no one would give them any attention ( or funding ) if they failed to re-invent the theories of teaching ( & here, political science ) every so often.

I simply see the nice, down-to-earth fellow from an upper class, Deep West Texas 'Oil Patch' family, who has had fifty years to shape his stage presence-first for & amoung his parents & siblings, thence his fellow residents of Midland, thence the larger theater of the state, & now the world. He does want to please almost all & will do what ever he can to gain approval. Not so very bad a goal, but his model is his Father, former legislator & CIA operative ( his oil biz was involved with them ), former Ambassador to the Chi-Com's, former Ambassador to the UN, former Director of the CIA, former Vice President, former President. All the roles hinge on power & the power was ever increasing, & we are the happy new followers of a man who grew up learning how to aquire & use power. Not a bad model, & certainly not a bad President, but it all revolves around ever increasing power.

CONTROL & TAXATION are the only ends of modern government. Criminal aliens are just one of an infinite number of tools to achieve the ends. So is the new war & we must deal with vast numbers of evil people, all around the world. The war will grow, for good reason, & only serve the same ends. Every crisis is new opportunity for the government.

NativeAmericanFemaleVet (to Texas4Ever): Here you are on yet another thread doing the same thing you always do. Your not looking for a real answer and it wouldnt matter if you got one. On this thread alone your more concerned someone wont vote for Bush again than you are about what he is doing.

Bingo.

I can only repeat what I have said before.

This country is headed into a dictatorship. This Thing has been in the works for many years.

How do you dominate a people? You destroy any semblance of morality. When the people cannot see past the ends of their noises, and they are completely self-absorbed, you can dominate them.

I have no idea how many tons of various illegal drugs have been disseminated to the people during a phoney drug war. It was never the intend to stop the flowing of drugs into this country. It was only a sham effort to fool the people. Drugs destroy a society. That was planned.

The entertainment media and other institutions have been busily destroying the morality of this country. People have been fooled into following a hedonistic lifestyle. This has left them without a strong sense of character and internal strength. They will not have the will, even the desire, to resist domination. This is the intent of those who intend to be our rulers. They have intentionally subverted even the young in our schools into following the very things that will make them powerless to resist domination.

This Thing goes forward regardless of who is in office. Uncontrolled immigration is another aid in destroying a nation. It is the intent of our rulers to bring in as many immigrees as possible to further the deterioration of our national fabric. Our society continues its slide into obscurity, degradation, and slavishness.

Our military becomes embroiled in military actions throughout the world in complete defiance of the Constitutional intent of our military forces. Now, the US military can enforce laws against American citizens, also in defiance of the Constitutional intent of our military forces. It will take only one, only one, biological or nuclear attack for our nation to come under full martial law. Once that occurs, the US Constitution is gone. We are that close to being a dictatorship.

What better cover for such an attack than a War Against Terrorism?

They intend for this planet to have a One-World Government system, and the planet is being broken up into trading or economic zones. They cannot allow national identities to exist for their plan to succeed. That is the purpose of uncontrolled immigration across our borders. Individual national laws cannot exist if they oppose the laws of the One-World Government. Constitutions will have to be rewritten to allow for "Legal" obedience to the laws of the One-World Government.

All of these things are easily enough seen by those who will just open their eyes. There was a time when it was not so apparent, but it is not hidden anymore.

Well, enough of this. Eventually, people will see the truth. And I think that more and more people are seeing things as they really are.
