The thing about "hate crimes" is that it's difficult to read the person's mind. The question isn't what would happen if the races were reversed. That's a given. The media would've painted "racism" and "hate crime" all over it. I would've heard about it sometime on the news. I didn't find out until I checked out this thread, which is mightily telling. I certainly heard about Mr. Byrd (and was just as horrified) at the time of the crime. Anyway, I wonder what would have happened if both driver and victim were of the same race. We'll not find out in this world.
The victim's relative seems almost disinterested, other than wanting to ask a few questions. I would not be nearly as complacent were I to discover that someone I knew, much less a sibling, was deliberately allowed to bleed to death.

If the races in this incident were reversed, it would be an instantaneous HATE CRIME!
But, I forgot that only WHITES can commit hate crimes, and only WHITES are capable of hate, right?

The thing about "hate crimes" is that it's difficult to read the person's mind. You've got to be kidding! In Charlotte, N.C. just about 2 weeks ago they arrested a gang of black students who were attacking white students (ONLY white students) at the local University. I'm not sure, but I think they killed a couple, or at least came close to it.
They even ADMITTED that they chose their victims based on their race (they had to be white).
Even after this (which doesn't require reading their mind because they admitted it!) the local DA held a closed door meeting with local NAACP officials, and then after the meeting announced that he didn't think he was going to push for HATE CRIME charges. Wake up people!

I hope she's not charged with a hate crime. The very concept of a hate crime is bogus to begin with, and the laws are clearly weighted in favor Anybody But Da Whiteman. As soon as an Oppressed Minority person gets charged with a hatecrime in a high-profile case, it will only legitimize the concept further. We're better off with hate crimes being recognized as favored status for Oppressed Minorities. Much easier to attack the very notion of hate crimes that way.

That picture is the face of an apathetic killer. She needs to be run down by a car, and left to die in a hot garage, just like her victim.

And she was a healthcare worker. How I pray I never get sick!

How about "Do unto others as they would do unto you." How about treating everyone the same, regardless of their skin color. How about forgive and forget and turn the other cheek. This world isn't going to get any better until we all start treating others the way we want to be treated. And past grievances should not give people the right to kill other innocents.
AMEN, Utah Girl, AMEN...What a very dark and evil world we live in, that someone could treat another human being so vilely. The woman who did this has a heart and soul that is stone cold dead and given over to Satan. I cannot get over such mind boggling wickedness and lack of humanity .

Ken Bimbo Tillery died early Saturday. Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox said evidence suggests that Tillery, 44, was struck by the automobile driven by the man who gave him a ride home from Jasper, where a black man was dragged to death in 1998. The sheriff said that Tillery was white and the four men in Blake Little's truck were black. "It's too early in the investigation to tell whether it was racially motivated, but it's still very much under investigation," Maddox said. He said Tillery was visiting a Jasper trailer park Friday night when he began looking for a ride home and the four offered Tillery a ride home after agreeing on a price of $5 for gasoline. But the sheriff said the price for gas went up during the trip, first to $25 and then $50 by the time the group arrived in Pineland. "They went by his house, but didn't drop him off because they were going by the gas station," said Maddox. "They got to the gas station, and that's when Tillery tried to depart by running." The truck's occupants chased Tillery along Farm-to-Market Road 2426 and a scuffle ensued. Tillery was apparently held captive before he was run over, investigators said. "The evidence at the scene did not look like an auto-pedestrian accident," Maddox told the Houston Chronicle in Monday's editions. He said there were no skid marks. Little, 34, of Jasper was arrested Sunday on murder charges. Investigators believe both drugs and alcohol were involved in the case. James Byrd Jr. of Jasper died 3½ years ago when he was chained at his ankles behind a pickup truck and dragged for nearly three miles along a bumpy country road until he was dismembered and decapitated. In that case, Byrd was black and the men in the truck were white. Little's father said he did not believe in a possible relationship between his son's death and the Byrd slaying, which he also doubted was racially motivated. "You've got so many innuendoes out that you don't know what to believe," Richard Tillery said of his son. "Personally, I just think it was a case of him not having any money or drugs." Pineland is about 130 miles northeast of Houston and about 20 miles north of Jasper. (Copyright 2002 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) Last Updated: Jan 21, 2002 |

thanks for the post, for comparison's sake, if nothing else.

"She is not the monster that police and prosecutors are making her out to be," said her attorney, Mike Heiskell. It is because of attorneys like that that I absolutely loathe defense attorneys. I cannot see how they sleep at night, knowing that they are doing their best to put guilty predators and slimeballs back out on the street to continue hurting people.

Actually I've spent quite a bit of my life in the inner city(Atlanta, Newark, Dallas, Houston, all have more blacks than Tampa, and slums with worse reputations and crime rates), enough to know that there about as many racist blacks as racist whites. Some here really are an embarrassment to conservatism and Free Republic. Try not to stereotype me the way you seem to stereotype blacks.
To: Mom_Grandmother
See my reply in #313. Your assumptions of me are flat-out wrong. I've worked one on one in the inner city educating and changing attitudes, without compromising my conservative or Christian beliefs. Have you?

White people can run but they cant hide! The truth be welcome.Eventually the truth will come out will you be ready?
To: Tauzero
She was on Ecstasy when she did this, and she denied the man aid, or even just dropping him off someplace where he'd be found.
What's she like the rest of the time, when she isn't mellowed out on Ecstasy?
To: gunnedah
White people can run but they cant hide! Could you please explain what you mean by this?
I'd also be interested to know what you think will be the shape of the truth that will eventually come out. Is there some reason you think I will not be ready for it? What is there about it that will possibly surprise and overwhelm me?
To: gunnedah
"Maybe whites should take to the streets looting and burning."WHOO HOOO, burn baby burn! lol, just kidding, do not attempt this at home etc. etc. (standard legal disclaimer)
