I hope you're kidding. No, I'm not.

The basis of our trial system is that the defendant is tried in front of a jury of his peers. We, at FR are doing nothing more than getting ahead of the game. Long live FR and the internet!

It almost feels like you didn't read my post. You have come back to the exact same argument. I tried to make it clear that it is not about the public disclosure, etc. but you are way too hung up on that.
I'll save my breath because it's apparently not getting through to you. You seem to be weaving your own story and it's barely relative to the comments here.

...but fixing a car is something unusual. I'd say it's unusual in any upscale neighborhood these days. Most young folks don't know how to fix anything these days, let alone their complicated, computerized car.

Actually, it sounds like you tried to make more out my comments then were there, making up your own story about my state of mind based on my comments but your theories.
My original comments, which I have not swayed from, were totally relevant to the post I responded to.

BTW, I'm thinking it was Mrs. wirestripper who sent Montie packin' long before the kids got there. :)

With all due respect, you must be quite old or at least very sheltered.
I think I once heard that an anklet was a sign of a loose woman or something like that. I think it was back in the early 1900s.
Believe me, I am pretty straight laced; FAITHFULLY married for 31 years and the director of my church's Sunday School. Save your judgment for someone else.

In Arkansas, our net worth is measured by how many cars we have up on blocks!

However, why would DvD kill his daughter for revenge against the neighbor? Is this what you are implying? If it is true that the van Dams did live out a wild swinging lifestyle, that they may have also developed the means to safely carry out this lifestyle at home, with kids underfoot. My hypothesis in this case would be that the van Dam kids were given sleeping powders on a regular basis. Enough to knock them out for 12 hours on a reliable basis. Put the child to bed after lacing their water cup. Then there would be no need to check on them for 11 or 12 hours, as experience would have shown.
Now enter Westerfield. Perhaps he had knowledge of this "medication" and knew he could have his way without the child protesting. But what if the child didn't get her full dose, or was overdosed by the father? Would the parents ever admit that they medicated their child in this manner?
More grist for the defense's mill.
Come clean, van Dams.

Yup! we need a humor break here!....:-)

Kim, as Luis Gonzalez has pointed out in these threads before, the apparent evidence of the parent's "Swinging Lifestyle" comes solely from one guy - a disc jockey named Rick Roberts who cites an unnamed LEO as his source.
The only other "evidence" comes from the weird VD refusal to outright deny this on Larry King, etc. Personally, I think it's odd enough that a mom would be out until 2:00 am partying in the first place.
To: crypt2k
A certain over the counter allergy medicine will do this. I heard a person say once (out of desperation) that she gave her overly active disabled child a normal dose just so he would take a nap and she could get some rest.

BTW....I heard about the "lifestyle" from LEO with my own ears long before I heard that Roberts was speaking of it on radio.

...when does ANY woman [child, adult, octogenarian] go to sleep with her jewelry ON? Women always take their jewelry off before they go to sleep. When Daddy puts the kid to bed in a hurry because he's getting ready to do something else? I don't know who did what in this sordid tale, but I do know that even good dads will put kids to bed in their street clothes if they are in a hurry and the kid is sleepy!

"I'd say it's unusual in any upscale neighborhood these days. Most young folks don't know how to fix anything these days, let alone their complicated, computerized car"I thought he had some kind of a classic car. It's not in the least bit unusual for the owner of a classic to be outside tinkering on it.
What gets me is that the neighbors seem to think that wife swapping is perfectly normal, and working on your own car is somehow abberent behavior.
Only in California, I guess. I wonder how many of those neighbors are hoping for a spot on Jerry Springer, or an interview with the National Inquirer.
To: Danielle
Well, let's just say that if people don't deny accusations, the public tends to believe they're true. That's reason enough to publicly deny something like this when offered the chance, as they have been numerous times--including on national television.
To: Southflanknorthpawsis
That is the first reliable off source I have heard. And, what would be your motivation in making it up? I've personally met many FReepers and found that they are generally what they purport to be on line.

Of course the prosecution is handling a hot potato and will do all they can to water down or counter the rumors.

Excatly what I was referring to in my previous
