[history]
An Eagle Scout who was mistaken for a bank robber and shot in the face by an FBI agent in Pasadena on Friday remained in serious but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center last night.
Joseph Charles Schultz, 20, was shot at close range about 6 p.m. Friday when FBI agents searching for a bank robbery suspect pulled over his girlfriend's car.
Schultz, who lives in the 7900 block of Seabreeze Drive in Orchard Beach in Anne Arundel County and works with fiber optics for a local medical company, has no connection to the bank robbery, officials said.

>...my screen name comes from a central character in the Matrix.
No need to explain. Most of the geeks on FR have seen the Matrix dozens of times.

Ooooh, that's a low blow. I like it! Sheesh Fred, please leave your and AAA's private conversations, private.

Didn't take long for you to stir what I consider two of the most notorious American haters on this site from their caves.
Were the agents following standard felony stop procedures?
I saw a bit on Fox News the other day; the FBI is recruiting more and more people without a Law Enforcement background,(e.g. schoolteachers, computer geeks).
I'm curious what the "mystery agent's" background is.

"that won't stop the cop haters from doing a "clinton like blood dance" with their replies painting all cops as jack booted thugs."
And that won't stop some people from excusing any police misuse or abuse of powers.

Joseph Charles Schultz, 20,...Hey, they shot Charlie Brown.
DANG!Seriously, this stop should have been made by officers who see more traffic-stop action, not a couple of plain-clothesed ramboes. Did they even call for back-up or have they been watching too many episodes of COPS?

I think it was the Miami Shootout that caused the FBI to change their policy to now carry more sophisticated weapons in the pursuit of bank robbers.

And now, the rest of the story.

"What you describe is a Police State."
Yes, you are right. Some people are comfortable in a police state.

"Totally off the subject but who lets their 16 year old daughter date a 20 year old?"
Sixteen year old girls these days are not the innocents you may think. Remember the old statutory rape laws that today have no meaning at all?

I am reminded of the frustrated "Orange Gunsite" instructor's Safety Comandment to a recalcitrant student. "Keep Your Finger off the Trigger. Keep Your Finger off the g--am Trigger. Keep Your g--am Finger Off the Trigger. Keep Your g--am Finger off the g--am Trigger. Finger-Trigger-No!" If this is true that the FBI teaches "finger on the trigger" in any situations other than "target identified, background clear, shoot now", I fear the gangrene has advanced to the irremediable stage!

And that won't stop some people from excusing any police misuse or abuse of powers. Uh please tell me where I excused the situation.
I commented about those who paint with a broad brush and will use any unfortunate situation to further their political point of view.
Not unlike Clinton with his famous blood dances.

I didn't know there was a town called Pasadena in the state of Maryland:

Not good enough. Virtually, your first comment was about those who paint with a broad brush. It seems to me that is exactly what you were doing.

"So Bush is guilty of not trying to clean up the mess."
The Clinton appointees are still in place as are all of the executive orders that Klinton signed. Bush is leaving in place the Klinton network. Klinton light?

This was one unfortunate situation that happened in a country of 281,000,000 people.

Look at the bright side. At least the 'Patriot' Act got passed, and in the future, they will be able to do a much though job.

Hey, they went to the mall. It was 6 pm. The girl was driving. So, where's the problem?
