Most of us agree that no one can possibly know what the parents are going through. Especially if they've never had to file a missing person report. It's the worst pain a parent can feel.
Think about this scenario, Westerfield sees Brenda at the bar with her swinger friends. He is aware of the sexual antics and wants to be included. She turns him down and openly ridicules him. He follows her home, watches outside while they order pizza and continue their party in the garage. While they are all partying, he enters the house and goes upstairs to the kids'bedrooms, thinking to himself, they can shut me out, but I can still play, and takes the girl.
The parents aren't guilty of anything, except being White Trash.
HMMMM...Did the cops find something like "hold orgy whild daughter is kidnapped and murdered" pencilled in on their calendar?
and wonder if they can even have normal feelings toward their children.
I don't know much about "amoral",but I DO know it is immmoral to charge/accuse parents of doing something like this without having the slightest trace of evidence.
I'm as cynical as they come but I find it impossible to believe that any person would make such a comment knowing it would be heard and reported. Brenda does not impress me as being a dumb blonde.
Just because a lawsuit hasn't been filed against a website, doesn't mean they are guilty for the death of their child.
Ken was asking Brenda "but do you think she was already missing after you got back from the bar?" and "you said you got back at 230?": in the background you hear Damon clearly whispering directions to Brenda (NOT meant to be heard!!) "Don't talk about the timeline! Stay away from the timeline!"
It's an incredible interview, after they got "burned" by the very sharp John and Ken they got the PR firm and stopped dealing directly with media.
This was the same interview where John and Ken asked about her dancing with Westerfield at Dad's: Brenda was shocked, like she did not know this was known. Her "denial" was purely Clintonian: she only said "I don'e recall dancing with him, he may have danced with one of my friends". That is a very close paraphrase.
I hope that there is a tape of that John and Ken interview on KFI, in retrospect it is EXPLOSIVE.
Ahh, but he was angry. He was showing emotion. Where is Van Dam's anger? Van Dam is not showing any emotion. There's the difference.
Maybe she's actually a crafty one that is soaking up publicity and sees a profit in her future.
She's managed to find time in her grief to apply makeup and prepare for camera appearances. Some people can lay unpleasant things aside if they are selfish enough.
I guess the van Dams will be off the hook, but boy would I like to see the made for TV movie about what they were doing that night. Let me guess, they will be cuddled up with a bowl of popcorn, a softdrink, and watching Mary Poppins with the kids. Can't wait.

One piece that was interesting was how some couples will bring their young daughters into the mix to gain favor with the leaders of the groups and move up on the list.
This sounds to me to be more like what happens in religious cults than any of the swingers I have known over the years. In fact,it sounds like the lies religious organizations tell their faithful to keep them whipped into a frenzy and keep contributing.
IF they are into the swinging lifestyle, then this very well may have led to this tragic end.
HorseHillary! The ONE thing we know to be a fact right now is having a pedophile for a neighbor certainly led to this tragedy occuring. Maybe you would like to blame their realator while you are at it?
If that is true, then someone needs to look at their other 2 children and do something, because this lifestyle does not seem condusive to parenting.
The same could be said about parents that let their children become altar boys,or secretaries to people like Jim Baker.

When you get out to the lunatic fringes,there is no real difference between the radical left and the radical right. They are both headed to the same place,just trying to get there from different directions.
How about... The Van Dams will be relieved if their extracurricular lifestyle is not held up to a microscope by defense counsel? I think that if they did not wish a plea agreement, none would be made. Let's wait and see if one is arranged.
