Just how Ritzy got onto the St. Louis voter rolls is still a mystery. "... We got a voting notification that said that Ritzy the dog ... had been registered, unbeknownst to us," Mekler said. "The registration said she had moved here from California, she was 21, and had a Social Security number."

Bond was pleased.
"I'm glad to have Ritzy's support," he said. "I just don't want her votes." Oh don't worry...all 73 of her votes went to Mel Carnahan...

.....- such as the elderly or immigrants - who don't have the necessary identification cards. Which means they are probably here illegally and don't have the right to vote.

After all of the Democrats whinning over the 2000 election, they've decided that voter fraud is they're key to winning! Every Democrat voted against requiring some form of ID to vote. Completely Outrageous!

All the springer spaniels I've ever known were smarter than the average St. Louis Democrat (and I lived in STL for 19 years).

Thanks for this post! Sen Bond is one of my favorites and I love that he brought the dog to the Senate Chamber so the Senate DemocRATS could meet one of their voters! Bet ms. carnahan was very pleased to meet someone who voted for her!

Which means they are probably here illegally and don't have the right to vote. Exactly. And ol' putzhead Schumer doesn't seem too concerned about my paperwork burden that preceeds April 15 of each year. fsf

I am puzzled. If Ritzy is 13, she would have only been 5 in 1994. Isn't that too young to vote? Oh wait, in dog years that would be 35. My bad.
To: rface
There's probably a pet rat somewhere in South St. Louis who voted for Carnahan. Rats for 'rats - now there's a bumper sticker that would fit.

It is discrimination if Spot and Barney are not allowed to register and vote.
Oh, I forgot! They're not "yellow dogs!"

When it's time to vote.....
.....I just put a little lipstick on her......
....and they think she's my wife. : )

You know, once one gets south of Hartford, CT, logic seems to go out the window. What is wrong with this Ritzy voting? The bitch is alive, ain't she? That quite literally puts her head and shoulders above many of Ms. Carnahan's (of whom the same question might be asked, I suppose) other supporters.
I been led to believe that many of them was stoned, or under stones, at the time.

I saw the photo in the paper this morning. Smart, and cute, looking dog. If she got to make the choice of who to vote for herself she would probably do better than many registered (human) St. Louisians. However, if dogs get to vote, I at least demand that my two cats also get to vote. With their independent streak, I am sure they would vote conservative.

We have a Springer Spaniel, named Bogart. Bogie says he's a hard core Republican. He's also nearly blind so that ought to give him added reason to be able to vote--remember the disabled.

Bumper sticker! Had you been here during the 2000 election race, you would have been pleased to see that the demoRATS had someone dress up in a RAT costume, and appear in all of the protests that occurred at any Republican event. They also delivered live rats one day, to the State Republican election HQs. They've earned their moniker.....RATS!

The dims put the wider at the gavel during this debate. I guess no one would be surprised to know that the crook deceased Mel also voted for Jean.
