80,000 Freepers and Growing - Freepathon

When Jim Robinson started Free Republic in September, 1996 to expose the corruption in government and particularly the Clinton Whitehouse, he was alone. Now six years later, Free Republic has 80,000 registered members and who knows how many visit this site often, just to keep up on the latest conservative thinking.

Folks, you all know where this is going, Free Republic is a user supported website and it is time to support it. Four times a year we have this freepathon to donate a few dollars to pay for the bandwidth and expenses necessary to keep Free Republic online, and we do so with gratitude and cheer because of what is offered and accomplished by the existence of Free Republic.

Free Republic does not charge a membership fee or get supported by a government grant. No, people from across the World make donations large and small because they see the value of Free Republic. Having finished replying to those who have chatted with me, I am going to go back thru my self-search and pick up more names to flag. The last time I did this I went thru about 5,000 replies, but am not sure if the new software allows going back that far. I will do my damndest, in any case, to flag as many as I can. Right now!

I read a post earlier by Diotima (I think) where someone had written that all we do here is complain about Clinton. Aside from being flat wrong, it seems to me that we have been reaching our fundraising goals faster than I can remember ever since the Jerk left office. So for anyone who says we're just a bunch of Clinton-haters: You're wrong and here's the proof!

I hate to say it, but I've got to scoot. If I don't get to the bank not only will FR not get this months contribution - but I will not have any electric in my house and therefore will not be able to keep this bumped later on this evening.

I'll be gone a couple of hours - but I was smart and put all my html on a disc to take home with me!!!!

Added problem for bumping over the weekend - I've got company this weekend - company is not the problem, it's a FReeper friend - it's just that I'm not going to around as much as I usually am during the FReepathons!!!!

There's too much to put into one post. About the best archive I've seen for the Milwaukee County Meltdown is the local fishwrap's special section. It picks up where they did, back on January 5th with a below-the-fold story they thought wouldn't generate many waves, and tracks the outrage through where we are now (Boss Hogg out, several supervisors under the gun, the RATs trying to stall things while they get their act together).

We've got a pair of websites up; the Recall Ament site and the Recall Supervisors site (BTW, we're up to an even dozen active recall drives).
