Police: Sibling Couple Kept Dead Son In Casket
Brother Arrested For Incest
Updated: 9:55 a.m. EST February 27, 2002
MOORE HAVEN, Fla. -- A Central Florida couple who are allegedly brother and sister are accused of keeping a casket containing the body of their infant son inside their home for 12 years.
The Glades County sheriff's office said that the casket was found in the home of Samuel Thomas Patrick and his wife Debra Lynn Patrick, who are also brother and sister.
Investigators said that they also found the Patricks' nine children and four grandchildren.
Acting on a complaint, authorities went to Patrick's home and discovered the casket of Joshua Patrick, who died of natural causes when he was eight months old. Detectives say the casket was exhumed from an Okeechobee County cemetery in 1990, but it's not yet clear when the boy died.
Samuel Patrick has been arrested on incest charges.
Deputies said that the family lived on a ranch owned by Lykes Brothers, where Patrick worked.

as a florida resident let me tell you central florida is very backwoods..... Make that South Central Florida. Central Florida usually refers to the Orlando-Kissimmee-Cocoa-Daytona areas.
Moore Haven is a little spec of a town on the western side of Lake Okeechobee, about 200 miles south of Orlando.
It is indeed out in the sticks. I lived in Okeechobee for a year (a long time ago) and for a former Long Islander, it was quite the culture shock. Friendly people, though.

"Perhaps he forced his underage sister into the arrangement?" How 'underaged' can she be if she is a grandmother?

Gets really ugly?
Some of might argue that it is already pretty ugly.

Hey, isnt this the couple that were really twins, only one of them was a hermaphrodite, so that he/she had both sex organs and was able to ... well you know... get romantic with its sister. Oh ya, and weren't their parents really
their mother and grandfather... so lets see
what would that make for the kid in the coffin- a total of 5 genes all together?
P.S: If you have sex with yourself, and say get yourself pregnant, is that incest or just parsimony? What ratings share on late night TV would that be worth?

Well, a few years back the mayor of Houston was introduced to a constituent who was a grandmother at the ripe old age of 23.
Regardless, Auntiemommy could have been "taken to wife" back when she was thirteen.
