Kuwait on Tuesday announced it will not be the base for the American forces to striking Iraq and stressed that what was stated of deploying 200,000 American troopers in Kuwait for this purpose is "just a rumor that aims at increasing sympathy with Iraq and defaming Kuwait."
To this effect the Kuwaiti deputy premier and defense minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad in a statement to the Saudi daily al-Watan issued on Tuesday considered that the "Iraqi people are eligible to make the change in their country but we do not encourage that to be taken place through us or to take part in acts of this sort in any other country."
Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak said " we do hate this regime (the Iraqi regime) and believe it is the reason behind the blight in our region as a whole.
On what was stated by commentaries in western media that Kuwait will be the focal place for American and western forces to strike Iraq, the Kuwaiti minister said that the " effective weapon in the war against Iraq is the air force. But as for what has been rumored on deploying 200,000 American soldiers of Kuwait in preparations for the war against Iraq, they are mere rumors aiming just to raise sympathy for the Iraqi regime."
Interesting.
That said, it appears they are responding to internal (Middle Eastern) rumors which, like they claim, are aimed at boosting Iraqi sympathies. I'm not so sure I can fault them for wanting to dispel this.
It is interesting that the Kuwaitis categorize talk of U.S. Troops on their soil as "defamatory." After all, what good Islamic state would want to be seen as aiding the Infidels in tormenting a good Muslim like Saddam Hussein? It's funny, but the Kuwaitis did not seem to feel that way 1n 1990, now did they, hmmmmmm?
Here is the bottom line: most Muslims (I use the word "most" advisedly and conservatively--the term "great majority" might be a better description) view the United States with hatred and envy. They think the 9/11 attacks were well deserved and blame us for failing to see things their way. We can expect no support from these backward sand dwellers, and that should be a matter on no concern to us anyway.
Liberals in the West think if we try to understand the mindset of these people, we can make them like us. Liberals think we must become more enlightened and (barf)"appreciate the cultural chasm that separates our two worlds." Conservatives understand there is one way that will actually convince these Third-World Floozies to like us. If we show them that we are capable of quickly reducing to rubble any state or group that stands in our way as we eradicate the terrorists, and we fully intend to do just that, then the Arab states will quickly become more enlightened in seeing things our way. They will line up to be our friends.
Unfortunately, the multi-culturalists in this country have probably already become too entrenched right here at home for that to ever happen.
Anything a government man says about Kuwait, whether our man or Kuwait's, must be considered as misdirection at this point. Deception is the major part of a successful attack with minimal casualties. That does not mean one can infer the opposite of what is said. Nothing is discernible from statements to repoters except that a minister said some words. Those words carry no meaning.
