"We don't see this kind of thing very often,"Of course not, swordfish stocks have been decimated by the longliners!

We don't see this kind of thing very often... ... normally, they use a flounder. This guy was some sort of fish-weapon genius!

Police said that after Spacek hit Ashmus in the head with a beer bottle and left, Ashmus went to Spacek's apartment and stabbed him in the abdomen with a sharp detached bill of a swordfish. I'm not sure, but I think it might have been fun to be able to listen in on Mr. Ashmus's thoughts....
"Knife? Nah. Messy."
"Yeah! A fire poker! Wait ... I got no fireplace -- I'm in Florida."
"Frozen leg of lamb? Hmmmmm. No -- somebody done that in a detective story."
"My pet piranha? Naw -- take too long to skeletonize him with only one...."
Hey, I know....!

"Half fish," he said. "Fish that you were. I am sorry that I went too far out. I ruined us both. But we have killed many sharks, you and I, and ruined many others. How many did you ever kill, old fish? You do not have that spear on your head for nothing." --Ernest Hemingway

Sounds like the jerk with the beer bottle baited him.

We must have federal licensing of all Sworodfish. It's for the children you know.

Fed up with all the senseless and unnecessary violence, the Pinellas County Sherrif's department institutes the Swordfish Buy Back Program.

Good to see the old traditions kept alive.

"Allegedly" fighting? Uh...does that mean it could have been an accident? (I hate it when that happens...)
To: Cagey
What happened to good traditional sawfish and hammerhead fights?

After this thread I now favor pun control.

Man, I KNEW I was going to get hooked on this thread...got suckered into posting again.
I have to say, this is the oddest story I have seen come down the pike in awhile..............
Maybe the victim should have just kept his largemouth shut.
