The Bush administration is no longer standing by a 24-year-old U.S. pledge not to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states, a senior administration official said yesterday.

Washington is "not looking for occasions to use" its nuclear arsenal, John Bolton, undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, said in an interview.

Of course Neutron bombs are far better in that they don't destroy as much of the infrastructure,

I think it is important that the Kaaba stone be utterly vaporized, not just scorched...

I wonder how Indiana Jones would deal with a father who has trained his child to be a suicide bomber?

Much like he deals with Nazis, I would guess. He hates those guys.

If we DO decide to nuke Mecca, I hope we have a contingency plan for quickly killing 1.2 billion (or so) Muslims in case they don't react in the way the wishfully-thinking assume they would.

Actually we only need to worry about killing the ones here (that respond) quickly and I expect that most mohammedans here will do and say nothing. We have a few hours or weeks before the foreigners will get out of their camels and realize what's really going on. By that time we can nuke most of the mideast (although I prefer neutron bombs myself) and march in for the oil at our leisure.

Palmer, as for killing 'innocent' bystanders, if they are islamic they are not innocent. Their entire religion commands them to kill non-mohammedans. I figure they can either switch now (and be saved) or glow a little later.

From a Christian stand point I know that we need to give them an opportunity to receive the gospel. From an American standpoint (thinking in defense of my country) a week should be just enough time for them to make the decision and either overthrow their governments or get out of the target zones.

Yes you are sick.

Read this very slowly so as you might understand. The use of nuclear weapons is BAD. Got it?

Look at Cernobyl and the effects on health in that region from that leak. The leak was not even equivalent to a 1 megaton warhead let alone several that could be used on a missile. We would feel the effects of it of such an explosion too.

The fact that W. actually has access to "the bomb" is frightening enough, now he may actually use it? This like giving a teenager a case of beer AND the keys to the car. God I hope there are some adults around to tell W. NO!

I don't think any of the countries in the Middle East should worry too much. I'm sure we could keep the nuclear tonnage low - say each bomb equal to the compressed jet fuel found in 2 American Airliners.

Well in just this one case I think we can do that. If I remember correctly there's not much more than sand in that part of Saudi Arabia. But we'll neutron the rest of it. agreed?

I can live with that.

Might not hurt to polish the Dome of the Rock off of the Temple Mount, while we're in the neighborhood...

Very well said. And I agree. Here's some food for thought... 709,000 regular active duty personnel 293,000 reserve troops 8 standing army divisions 20 air force and navy air wings with 2,000 combat aircraft 232 strategic bombers 13 strategic ballistic missle submarines with 3,114 nuclear warheads on 232 missles 500 ICBM's with 1,950 warheads 4 aircraft carriers and, 121 combat surface ships, plus all the support bases, shipyards and logistical assets needed to sustain such a naval force. Who owns this force of power? Is this country Russia?....No Red China?.....No Great Britain?.....No USA?......No Give up? Well don't feel too bad if you are unable to identify this global superpower because this country no longer exists. It has vanished. These are the military forces that have disappeared since the 1992 Presidential election. Sleep well America.

I guess I was a lily-livered coward when I enlisted in the Army too. The Army must not have thought I was too much of a coward when they decorated me six times and promoted me four times in three years.

I suppose we could air drop yellow canisters with a couple hundred bucks, the Bible and a target map. Speaking as a non-believer, I know I would sign up.

The use of The Bomb isn't bad... a weapon is a weapon, death is death, whether you kill with a W88 warhead arriving courtesy of an MX, or a pointy stick! To think otherwise is to dismiss logic and give in to the emotional leftist anti-nuke hype that has led to the situation I most fear. That is the contemplation of nuclear conflict, sans ANY civil defense in this nation. No ABM systems yet either. Why? Because we let these liberal fools convince us that we wouldn't want to survive a nuclear conflict anyway. I guess we are just supposed to grab our ankles, because we are getting to that point, and thanks to the Left, are completely unprepared to fight that war.

Howdy! Nice to see that somebody else is paying attention to the situation at hand.

I think this is something we (meaning the general population and our enemies abroad) are not supposed to notice. Show some pretty infrared footage, some neat-o pics of our guys in their kevlar with the SAW's, some F-16's and everything is hunky dory.

Where did you pull those stats from, BTW? Seems like that would be a good source of info for future threads.

Something's not right here, and the cheerleaders are too frenzied to notice that the home team is 5 players short of a full team and its only the first quarter of the game.
