Touching. Mr. Colson has our safety in mind. B.S. Tennessee seems to have become the center of efforts to destroy American working peoples' wages. Do you like the sympathetic leukemia story? Even this author found this for a spin. Or it was supplied to him, showing there is a P.R. power trying to spin the debate.

And why Tennessee? Is it just corrupted in the area of licensing?

about $1,000 each for driver's licenses

That's about the same as a legal one here in Holland! Really!

Colson answeres directly to King, who is the commisoner. King was appointed by RINO Don "tax and spend" Sundquist.

”…[D]eny (ILLEGAL) immigrants a driver's license, Colson said, "and what you are going to do is put a large group of people out on the road that do not have a license, do not have insurance and do not understand the rules of the road."

How on earth is carelessly flinging out drivers licensees to whomever asks for one going to increase the amount of people who have insurance and understand the rules of the road???

By this logic, if we’d grant citizenship to everyone who wanted it, we wouldn’t have any illegal immigrants, and more law abiding, loyal citizens.

"It is a federal requirement of the INS to find out whether someone is here legally or not," Colson said. "It is not our obligation at this particular point."

I suppose that if Tennessee police discovered a major counterfeiting operation, they would determine that it was the Secret Service’s obligation at that particular point.

If people aren’t supposed to be in this country, we should all try to discover and repatriate them at every opportunity.

"Do you want your children crossing the street when they could be at risk from a driver who doesn't know the rules of the road?

Typical liberal, using the old "What about the children?!?" scare tactic to incite hysteria. These people are truly shameless.

I think the rest of us should file a class action suit against the State of Tenn. for aiding and abetting.

Making it easier for immigrants to get licenses not only helps individuals, Colson said, it boosts the state's construction and farming industries.

Phil Valentine pointed out that this is the key sentence. The Construction/Road Building and Agriculture interests are the strongest lobbies in Tennessee. They want to keep the cost of labor low. They have financed enough politicians to get their way. Throw in the hotel industry, like Gaylord, that actually flies in workers from Latin countries to lower costs and we have little means of opposing this cabal.

Several states are now refusing to recognize a Tennessee driver's license as means of identity proof and rightly so. All Tennesseans will suffer from this aspect. I wish someone would send Tennessee some real conservatives. We only have a choice between Dems and RINOs. Howard Baker and Lamar Alexander set the trend and it rolls on. To the bulk of the Tennessee Republican Party, the only thing that matters is MONEY. If something increases profits then it's good no matter what else may come by enacting the legislation.

The Feds do deserve some blame. Until recently, Tennessee had one INS office in Memphis to serve the entire state! There have been horror stories of local police arresting illegals only to be told by the INS that they have no time or room to pickup and care for the illegals. The police have thus stopped wasting their time by trying to do anything about the situation.

"Do you want your children crossing the street when they could be at risk from a driver who doesn't know the rules of the road?"

Does giving them licenses suddenly make them safer? They broke laws just to get here, how much respect for our other laws do you expect them to have? How would they drive when they are desparate to get away from an IMS vehicle that is following them? Do you want your children crossing the street then?

Kansas too:

Licenses for undocumented aliens steer legislators both ways

Making it easier for immigrants to get licenses not only helps individuals, Colson said, it boosts the state's construction and farming industries. "They have a dramatic need for labor," he said. "These people coming here, they provide that." [no, they provide cheap labor, suppressing the wages of Americans. Disgusting. This guy could write for the Wall Street Journal!]

Disgusting is Right. Of what concern is it to a highway commissioner to speak out about the illegal labor needs of certain TN industries? Where is that in Colson's job description? This is a clear conflict of interest and a good indiction that some of these TN bureaucrats are on the take with businesses that peddle in the illegal job market.

Most distrubing is that these hucksters don't care a wit that this perversity makes it possible for terrorists to obtain IDs without background checks much less how it hurts local citizens working for work.

Welcome to today’s America. Anything can be bought in the political arena at the right price.

Sounds like Tennessee may become the winner of offering drivers licenses, comfort and support to illegal aliens and to Islamic terrorists, often there, they are the same.

This is just the tip of the iceberg re giving licenses to illegal aliens. Of course what political party do 99.999999999999999999999999% of Illegal aliens vote for and vote often for?

Patriotic American voters need to get out of the mindset that they must vote either Democratic or Republican because these two major political parties are the only "legitimate" choices. Neither of these institutionalized parties seems to give a hoot about the voters. The Democratic and Republican parties are each pushing forward with their respective agendas and they really don't care what we voters think or how we feel about it.

Both the Democratic and Republican parties look at elections as simply a formality in which party loyalists vote for their party's candidate and both ambivalent and disgusted voters tend to approach voting with a "vote for the lesser of two evils" philosophy. As long as the majority of American voters keep thinking and voting this way, major problems such as illegal immigration will never be resolved.

The time has come for each patriotic American voter who is "mad as hell" at ineffective government to seriously consider voting for a third party candidate because our current two party political system is no longer working for us.

The United States today is going through one of the most corrupt periods in its long history. We, the people of the United States, created a brand new government from scratch 226 years ago. The time is now upon us to do some major tinkering to get our government working right again. The American voters collectively have a great amount of power, but unless we start to use it wisely and effectively at election time, it does us no good to possess it.

Proposed legislation requiring more documents from immigrants applying for Tennessee driver's licenses would make roads more dangerous, licensing centers more stressful and the nation no more secure.

This line is worn out. Try something else for a change.

Can you hear me out there? GET A LIFE AND A NEW LINE!! I'm bored.

Thanks for the ping 'O toothy one.
