Man arrested at LAX with explosives

Now they are saying that he is charged with "stealing an explosive" and some type of package has been found. He was caught at the screening area.

Wasn't it at LAX last week that they let a guy walk through after finding explosives residue on his shoes--and he got away? Wonder if this is the same guy?

Now first off, let me say that its a given that criminals are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

That being said, let me ask:

Who in the name of Holy Moly would ever try to smuggle explosives through the one place in the entire country where they are actively looking for people smuggling explosives?!?

That's about as bright as trying to bring a pickup truck load of cocaine over the border from Mexico in the back of an open pickup truck, and driving right into the customs check point at the border, parking, and waiting for them to inspect your vehicle. Duh!

Whether all of these reports/news stories are true events or not, all of the publicity has the possible effect of discouraging would-be's. I for one, implore the media to report true or false reports in this sense....

Could be. Doubtful. They usually use fakes (with residue if they involve dogs). Seen (at least heard second hand) of too many FAA people making it through checkpoints with fakes in the poast (early/mid 90s).
