LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- The FBI has issued an alert to 350 law enforcement agencies in the southwest and Salt Lake City for potential Valentine teddy bear bombs after a suspicious transaction at a Wal-Mart last month.
Law enforcement sources said authorities also were on the alert at airports in case the suspected bear-bombs might be carried onto airplanes on Valentine's Day.

Now that's a bear we can allow to explode (the bear, I mean. In case the Feds are reading bear news).
This thread is unbearable and taking the stuffing right out of me.

This thread is unbearable and taking the stuffing right out of me. Let us hope that the full resources of our government are brought to bear, in investigating this incident. At a bear minimum. If one of these things is allowed to explode, you can bet the fur is going to fly. And that will give us paws.
But then, the guy who did this might have misread the 2nd amendment as the right to 'keep and arm bears'.

This sounds like some idiot who got his bombmaking instructions off the internet. The Columbine kids fell for that "propane makes a good bomb" nonsense too. If he actually tries to detonate them, it'll work no better than it did for Klebold and Harris.
Maybe having bogus bombmaking instructions on the net is a good idea, if it suckers low-IQ terrorists into thinking that they're true.

#1 If this is some bomb plot for airlines, it won't work, especially for carry on, I had to take my hat off (the one with USA written on the front)at the security check. Any propane bottle hidden in a stuffed animal will set off alarms, no matter how stupid the baggage inspectors are.
#2 If it is for presents and sent in the mail, who knows what will happen.
#3 Take you tinfoil hat off, it's interupting your common sense.

You're right - aside from the fact that I bought my daughter a valentine's day bear and the headline almost caused me to faint.....some of the comments on this thread are hilarious. FReeper humor (even in times of trial) is so amazing....

Beware a teddy bear wearing a kafiyeh and shouting ALLAH AKBEAR! Or one wearing a Burka, or its Arabian equivalent, hiding whatever it is they hide under there.
