Shouldn't this be classified information?

No, it should not. The Administration needs to prepare public opinion, so that people know what's going to happen and why. They also need to build such support as they can from other countries, and that is best done by presenting a solid case.

Besides, this isn't rocket science. Everyone knows Iraq is on Bush's "to do" list -- nor could the necessary military preparations be hidden. Saddam would know it was coming, whether it was reported in the media or not.

Flood Iraq with counterfeit currency. That will destabilize the economy, cause riots and revolutions and then it won't be so difficult to delete Saddam.

We give Mubarak $2 Billions/year, and want to kill Sadam; what is wrong with this picture!

Mubarak isn't building weapons of mass destruction to possibly use against us and/or Israel.

But I would stop handing money over to Egypt.

He continued that invading Iraq would take up to 300,000 soldiers, 1,000 aircraft, and as many as five aircraft carrier battle groups.

BS, it would take 3 nuc tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles right on his palaces, or maybe a couple of daisy cutters right down his doorstep. Find out where he is, and bomb the place until there is nothing but a burned out crater 300 feet deep. Take out the head and the body dies!!

...extremist suicide terrorists who have hijacked the religion

Extremest suicide terrorists ARE the religion. Read the Koran. Any peaceful Muslim who befriends a Jew or a Christian is NOT a true Muslim. The book is full of calls for forced-conversion, hate, oppression and murder of us infidels.

We had better wake up and get as serious about our survival as they are about our annhiliation.

With Usama bin Laden and Mullah Omar in hiding and the Taliban in tatters, U.S. officials are turning their eyes toward Saddam Hussein.

Sheesh, how many times have we heard this sentence, or one of its close variations? How long does it take us to "turn our eyes toward Saddam"? Six months?

The copywriters at our Mainstream Press agencies really need some new phrasebooks.

"Islam is a religion in which God requires you to send your son to die for him."

A clever turn of phrase. And one with which I'm sure Ashcroft as a conservative Christian probably would PRIVATELY agree whether he actually coined it or not.

I don't think it's quite accurate--radical Islamists do think this way but I have never understood the entire faith to think this way any more than Jews still hanker to slaughter more cows and sheep.

But that's beside the point: Which is that I doubt Ashcroft would ever make such a statement in any context where he might be quoted--off the record or no.

Thomas gets a little excitable at times.

BTW: I wonder what CCs in here think of Genesis 22?

You're quite right. This article is so chock-full of clichés, stock-phrases and pat conventional wisdom it's almost unreadable.

"BTW: I wonder what CCs in here think of Genesis 22?"

IMHO, the sacrifice of Isaac is a metaphoric prefiguring of the Passion of Christ.

I agree with what Bush desided.

Using a three-pronged attack of .... nuclear, chemical and biological-weapons .... that Bush has decided.
