I read and I'm pretty sure I read it in National Review, that there were 6 or 7 congressmen who had tickets for this flight. They were mostly at the airport just before it took off and all the congressmen except this fellow Larry McDonald canceled at the last minute. McDonald was also I believe associated with the John Birtch Society, he was a radical conservative. He was also very popular and able to persuade people. I thought McDonald was a repub, but this article says he was a democrat. The article I read also said that it was possible for the Soviets to trick the airliner into flying into soviet airspace through electronic manipulation.
The powers that be in this world don't hesitate to kill people who get in their way. During the 1980's the Soviets killed a lot of people. They killed a 21 year old grad student in Arizona because he was working on the missile-defense program. They similarly killed more than 20 Europeans for the same exact offense.
