Assemblyman MOUNTJOY opposes promotion of homosexuality in public schools.
Letter sent to GrandMoM | February 8, 2002 | DENNIS MOUNTJOY-California Legislature

Posted on 02/12/2002 3:28:27 PM PST by GrandMoM

THE FOLLOWING IS A LETTER I RECEIVED FROM ASSEMBLYMEMBER DENNIS MOUNTJOY REGARDING ASSEMBLY BILL 1326
Dear Concerned Grandparent:

Thank you for writing to me regarding your support for my nine-word bill,Assembly Bill 1326, which reads:"The promotion of homosexuality in public education is prohibited."This measure would have prohibited the promotion of homosexuality in public education. Unfortunately, the Assembly Education Committee defeated AB 1326 on January 16. All four Republicans present voted in support. Eight Democrats voted in opposition. A copy of the votes is enclosed

A Los Angeles Unigied School District (LAUSD) teacher testified in support of AB 1326. He explained and displayed the materials he has collected under court order that were being used for LAUSD's "Models of Pride 2" diversity training. Believe me when I tell you that this material is grossly inappropriate to be used in our schools under the guise of "safety" or "diversity" training or anything else. In my view, the material is pornographic and obscene.

I believe government schools should focus their energies on teaching our children to read, to write, to understand mathematics, to think and to analyze. Schools should not seek to use our schools as vehicles for social engineering.

I am very concerned about the direction government school curriculum is headed. Last year's Assembly Bill 1785 (Chapter 955, Statytes if 2000) requires schools to teach sexual orientation as a form of diversity. This year's AB 1434 proposed authorizing payment to outside "organizations" to teach K-12 students diversity. Under AB 1434, diverse sexual orientations, such as trans-sexuality, could be taught to children as normal and healthy.

Late last year, Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin created a 38 member task force to draft recommendations and strategies for implementing AB537 (Chapter 587, Statutes of 1999). Interestingly, Mike Marshall, the task force co-chairman, also serves as Executive Director of the San francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

Assembly Bill 537 proposes teaching our children diversity in order to create "safe schools." The AB 537 Task Force met in several secret sessions. They drafted a set of 12 recommendations to implement AB537. Under these recommendations, all State curriculums will be change to include alternative sexual lifestyles. In other words, literature, math word provlems, health and social studies classes, as well as other subjects will be tailored to positively protray homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism. The California Department of Education is poised to adopt these recommendations as administrative regulations to be followed in every K-12 public school. You can access the recommendations at the following site: http://www.cde.ca.gov/spbranch/safety/ab537/report.pdf

One of the recommendations urges the Department to "create positive, grade-appropriate visual images that include all sexual orientations and gender identities" for use in schools.

I have enclosed a copy of my AB press release, a list of the books approved by LAUSD for use in their diversity training, a page listing the members of the Assembly Education Committee and how you can contact them. I hope you will take the time to view these books and to write to the members of the Assembly Education Committee voicing your opinion on their AB1326 votes.

If you are as concerned as I am, I encourage you to go to your local school district and check out the materials being used for their diversity training or gay/lesbian appreciation days or weeks.

If you think the information is inappropriate, please let your school board know immediately.

Sincerely, Dennis Mountjoy

Former Lesbian and Teacher Fights Homosexual Agenda in Schools

(Free Republic thhread)

"When Linda Wall found out what was being taught in many U.S. schools about homosexuality, she was not only shocked and saddened, she was angry. A former lesbian and a former teacher, she knew she couldn’t sit back and let it happen, especially in her home state of Virginia.

"One night I was surfing the Web and saw an article that said ‘AT&T sends pro-homosexual video to middle schools'," Wall said. "I kept looking and found 13 pages of pro-homosexual library books being put in the schools. I sat there and thought, is this happening in the whole country?"

"I can’t let this happen. They cannot be seducing children into what I was seduced into," Wall said...

She has already heard about a number of cases where children, without parents’ consent, were introduced to homosexuality as a normal and acceptable lifestyle. One involved a homework assignment showing families with two women and a child and two men and a child.

"One of their techniques is to redefine the word ‘family'," Wall said of those promoting the homosexual agenda. "They are piggy-backing on diversity, trying to equate a behavior with culture."

In another situation, a 16-year-old girl who was questioning her sexual identity was referred, by her school counselor and without her parents’ knowledge, to the organization Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).

Counselors are being trained to send the kids in that direction," Wall said. "Homosexuality is being endorsed and promoted with wrong statistics and misinformation, and no alternative is being offered."...

When I started investigating this thing, I saw that there was definitely an agenda out there to indoctrinate children into homosexuality,” Wall said. She said while she has often found parents who are upset by incidents in the schools, many of them are afraid or embarrassed to speak out, or else have tried but have been treated so poorly by school officials that they do not pursue it any further.

"One parent called me to say that they were adding oral sex to the curriculum at her child’s school," Wall said. "They had questioned administrators about it, but were told that so many kids were doing it that they had to add it to the curriculum. The parents were made to feel so humiliated that they didn’t go any further with it."

As in many states, in Virginia each school district has a lot of leeway regarding curriculum, which is one reason Wall and other pro-family activists are looking to pass a state law preventing the promotion of homosexuality in the classroom.

She is calling on parents to get involved and find out what is being taught at their children’s schools and then be willing to speak out if it is not acceptable.

"In 1993, the chant of homosexuals during the Washington Gay Pride Parade was ‘We’re queer, we’re here, and we’re coming after your children,’" Wall said. "And that’s exactly what is going on in our schools. There is no gay gene, people aren’t born homosexuals, so the only way to get people in the lifestyle is to recruit them. That’s how you spread your agenda."

Still, she believes the battle can be won. "If we get enough parents involved, we will do it in Virginia. Then we’ll challenge every state in the country to follow suit."...

California's Public Education 'Agenda': Smut 101

"I was reading a news story from WorldNetDaily entitled, 'Lawmakers 'Sanction' Use of District-Approved 'Porn'. My stomach turned, as yours surely will. But, don't spare yourself. You need to know about this, because it is coming your way.

"Instructional materials on homosexual sodomy and a glorified account of lesbian pedophilia" have been approved by none other than the Los Angeles Unified School District and backed up by the wicked California Assembly.

The "materials" are being used in "diversity" and "safety" programs from elementary to high school. In fact, the program's instructors are even referring students to the porn shops where the "materials" can be purchased. They are referring them to porn sites on the Internet, so the students can choose the sort of homosexual or lesbian pornography they are most interested in.

Dad to son: "Say, Junior, isn't that pornography you're looking at on the Internet?"

Son to dad: "No, dude, school project, man."

Dad to son: "Cool. But... isn't that a guy?"

Son to dad: "Yeah, man, dig it."

Dad to son (head tilting sideways): "Well, uh, do your best son."

Holy smokes, Batman, what is this world coming to? Ruination comes to mind. My husband and I saw this coming. You see, we "served" 5 years in Central California. And then, Praise God, we were able to flee the state.

While living in California, we were subjected to the public school system - A double whammy. We were there when they passed the law that required schools to begin "sexual orientation tolerance" programs. Before we left the state, I had to review the "innocent" sex education film for our 4th grade son.

Parents were allowed (how kind of them!) to pull their child from the program if they chose. They could come view the videos, etc. I went to the - for lack of a better word - "showing," but we ended up not allowing our son to participate in the program. We knew about the "agenda" they were planning to implement into the system. It's called "tolerance." Of course, at the "showing," the program seemed innocent. But now, as we feared - not even a year later - they are approving homosexual and lesbian smut for the children to learn "tolerance" and "diversity." Oh, please, I am going to be sick right here!

The 'agenda' is even worse than what is in the WorldNetDaily article. The homosexual forces, inside the public education system, are planning field trips to gay parades, homosexual guest speakers and 'one-on-one' counseling, for kids to talk about their "hidden" feelings, concerning their sexual orientation. We suppose that the districts will simply "push the envelope" and the fruity California Assembly will rubberstamp it.

Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy, R-Monrovia was quoted in the WorldNetDaily article, "The material is being put forward under the guise of tolerance and diversity, but it's inappropriate. It's lewd and lascivious ..."

Well thanks, guy, but anyone in their right mind knows that homosexual and lesbian handbooks do not belong in school, they belong in the back corner of a smut shop. Hey, these days, the kids don't even belong in public school, as my husband and I found out the hard way (Which brings up the issue of home schooling. Our decision to home school our children was made during our internment in California, so we have at least one thing to thank the state for)..."

I grew up in a Catholic environment.....Not safe there either, huh?

Thanks Freepers for letting me vent!

Free smut for children

(Free Republic thread)

"Smut magazines are characterized by graphic sex, abundant profanity, homosexual content and extreme violence – and so are some of the books children are encouraged to read in school.

You think I'm making this up, right?

Involved parents who took the time to take a look at their child's literature materials have provided us with a prime example of just how bad public education can be. They've also provided us with a message of how diligent parents must be if they choose to send their kids to public schools.

Parents of students in a ninth-grade class at Colusa High School in California looked over a few of the books the teacher had encouraged her students to read – what the parents found mortified them in a way they will never forget. Although repugnant and offensive, I'll provide a few examples as evidence that it's time for society to say, "Houston, we have a problem."

In the book "Way Past Cool," by Jesse Mowry, one need only get to page 4 for the first of many uses of the term "motherf-----," that show up throughout this literature book recommended by the American Library Association. The racially derogatory terms "ni--er" and "ni--erboy" are used, and pages are filled with detailed, graphic descriptions of sexual acts between teens. In honor of decency, there is no way I can give you word-for-word examples in my column – but if you doubt the nature of the book, and have a strong stomach – go to the library and read pages 184-185, and 187. You'll find enough there to enrage even the biggest skeptic.

In "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," by Stephen Chbosky, a sexual act between fourth graders is described, as well as sex between teens on a golf course. If you care to see what the 14-year-olds were exposed to at the recommendation of their teacher, pages 30, 31 and 44, 45 will provide you with the general sickening idea...."

"The leading national organization working to end anti-gay discrimination and harassment in America’s schools today expressed concern over the decision of Creston High School officials in Creston, Iowa, to postpone a band trip to Orlando that was to coincide with the city’s Gay Days festival. The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, or GLSEN, said the decision and resulting controversy may further isolate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students in local schools.

God I sure hope so. GLSEN doesn't want tolerance they want everyone to be homosexual. Anyone not on their path is wrong and needs to be "converted". I pray hard for these people, they need salvation soon.

If you can't find 4 like thinking people in your town with some testicular fortitude, I guess we are doomed!!

According to the Bible you need 10:

And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. (Genesis, 18:32)

These disgusting creeps forget that ALL pre-puberty kids like the same sex and are awkward around the opposite sex.

Wrong. They haven't forgotten it. They are counting on it and exploiting it.

They are counting on it and exploiting it.

All the more reason for parents to pay attention and speak up.

Unbeknownst to parents, my sixth-grader and his class spent an hour practicing how to put condoms on bananas.

Whatever parents think is going on in public schools, it's actually ten times worse.

BRAVE NEW SCHOOLS Students 'opting out'of homosexual class California legal group helping parents

SACRAMENTO -- Parents who do not want their children to participate in activities and discussions relating to homosexuality -- which are now authorized by law to take place in California public schools -- have found other laws to back up their position, thanks to a legal group's "Parental Opt Out Program."

Sponsored by the Pacific Justice Institute, a non-profit legal defense organization headquartered near the state's Capitol, the program provides a free standard opt-out form to parents wishing to ensure their children are not exposed to the effects of two new laws. As reported by WorldNetDaily, children attending California government schools will now be taught explicitly to avoid "discriminatory attitudes and practices" toward homosexuals in accordance with two new laws that fund revised curriculum and broad, unspecified "tolerance" programs.

The Pacific Justice Institute's form cites four sections of the state's education code that allow parents to "opt" their children out of participation in programs and instruction generated as a result of the new laws, as well as previously existing programs. In addition, PJI is offering free emergency legal counsel to all parents either having questions about the form or facing these controversial school activities.

Specifically, the form refers to sections 51240, 51550, 51553 and 51554 of the education code, which state parents may require the school to obtain express, written permission from them before teaching their children anything related to sexuality, family life or similar topics.

Section 51554 states: "Unless a pupil's parent or guardian has been sent written notification ... a pupil shall not receive instruction on sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, human sexuality, or family life that is delivered by an outside organization or guest speakers brought in specifically to provide that instruction, whether the guest speakers are brought in to lecture, distribute information, show a videotape, act out, conduct an activity involving pupil participation, or provide audio material on these subjects. Notification sent pursuant to this section shall include the date of the instruction, the name of the organization or affiliation of each guest speaker, and information stating the parent's or guardian's right to request a copy of Sections 51201.5 and 51553, related to AIDS prevention instruction."

Additionally, section 51240 provides a specific option for parents with religious convictions about sexuality issues. "Whenever any part of the instruction in health, family life education, and sex education conflicts with the religious training and beliefs of the parent or guardian of any pupil, the pupil, on written request of the parent or guardian, shall be excused from the part of the training which conflicts with such religious training and beliefs," the statute reads. "As used in this section, 'religious training and beliefs' includes personal moral convictions."

By providing their children's schools with a signed copy of the form, parents assert their legal rights as spelled out in the education code. But California parents aren't the only ones who can take advantage of PJI's program, which also includes a more generic form for families outside of California.

"Parents in and out of California should feel free to contact us for a form," said PJI's president Brad Dacus. "The stakes are too high for any parent to slough off this time-crucial response to protect their children."

Dacus indicated the program has a sense of urgency, saying, "The spreading of homosexual propaganda in public schools is much broader, not just in California, but outside of California as well, courtesy of institutions such as the NEA -- the National Education Association." He added: "The homosexual agenda has also aggressively expanded into not just high schools, but now into elementary schools where children have a hard time distinguishing between the terms 'tolerance' and 'acceptance,' which will not only have a chilling effect on children holding fast and willing to share their faith, but also actually changing their psyche, impacting how they address their own sensitive, personal gender-identity issues in early adolescence. It's not a secret that every child, particularly male children, in early adolescence has a tough battle working through their gender identity as they approach manhood. So it has extremely serious ramifications to children who will use this propaganda for the rest of their lives and shorten their lifespan in the process."

"Parents know where their children are at and know what their children are ready for and are best able to address these moral, religious and lifestyle needs," Dacus remarked. "This issue is so important that we have been working with other pro-family organizations and attorneys to ensure that all the materials necessary are included in the opt-out forms provided for parents," he added.

Homosexual activist groups are pleased with the new curriculum laws. One group, the P.E.R.S.O.N. Project, has the two bills listed on its website as victories in its year-end legislative wrap-up. According to its online brochure, "The P.E.R.S.O.N. Project is an informal, national network of organizations and individuals working to ensure that fair, accurate, and unbiased information regarding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and about the nature and diversity of sexual orientation is presented to America's youth as part of public school education."

The group has set out to ensure that elementary and secondary curricula include specifics about homosexuals, including "information about the historical and continuing contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to art, language, education, science, sport, etc." and "discussion of the LGBT liberation movement and the history of the struggle for equality for sexual minorities in the United States and throughout the world."

The group is also working to get historical homosexual events written into history books, such as "the National Marches on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979, 1987, and 1993; the Stonewall Resistance of 1969 and its 25th Anniversary commemoration in 1994, and the struggle for privacy and civil rights via the courts, (e.g. Bowers v. Hardwick, the Gay Olympics case, and the cases having to do with the rights of LGBT people to serve in the Armed Forces and to be recognized legally as parents)."

While issues of historical significance are not necessarily being disputed by parents opposed to the new laws, active promotion of the homosexual lifestyle as socially acceptable is under fire.

"Without question, California is a pluralistic state with parents having a wide range of values regarding what is best for their children," said Dacus. "It is our goal to ensure that the public school districts in this state will still respect such diversity in view of these controversial laws."

Parents wishing to order a copy of the opt-out form can do so by contacting the Pacific Justice Institute toll-free at 888-305-9129.

Tolerance in schools a homosexual ploy, conservatives say by Robert Stacy McCain, The Washington Times, May 7, 2002

(Free Republic Thread)

"Programs to teach tolerance in public schools are actually being used to promote and encourage homosexuality, conservative activists said in a Capitol Hill briefing yesterday.

"Homosexual activists have hijacked our schools," California activist Karen Holgate said at the seminar sponsored by Concerned Women for America (CWA), a Washington-based Christian conservative group. "If we don't take a stand, we're going to lose this battle."

By adding the terms "gender" and "sexual orientation" to anti-discrimination laws, Mrs. Holgate said, California legislators have enabled that state's public schools to promote the acceptance of homosexuality "as normal, positive and healthy."

That agenda now begins in elementary grades, where a theater group performs pro-homosexual skits — including one about a boy who wears a skirt and talks about being a "queen" — in California schools for children as young as second grade.

Public schools across the country are adopting similar programs, said Robert H. Knight, director of CWA's Culture and Family Institute.

"Homosexual activists are using the idea of 'safe schools' and 'anti-bullying' campaigns to bring their pro-homosexual message into the schools," Mr. Knight told a standing-room-only crowd at the Rayburn House Office Building.

Sex education programs have been "continually redesigned to introduce children to sex at younger and younger ages," Mr. Knight said. "They are now entering the final step of the campaign, which is to openly promote acceptance of homosexuality even among the youngest children."

Mr. Knight cited the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), with a $3.5 million annual budget and more than 1,200 members whose mission, he said, "is to promote homosexuality in the schools under any guise that works."

He said the largest teachers' union, the National Education Association, has adopted many of the pro-homosexual positions advocated by GLSEN.

On its Web site (www.glsen.org), GLSEN declares that "homophobia and sexism undermine a healthy school climate," and states its aim of educating "teachers, students and the public at large about the damaging effects these forces have on youth and adults alike." The New York-based group recently launched a campaign against "institutionalized heterosexism" in schools.

In a teaching manual called "Tackling Gay Issues in School," GLSEN supplies teachers wih model lesson plans that condemn religious beliefs against homosexuality as "homophobia" and that label such beliefs "false."

One lesson plan in the GLSEN manual says middle-schoolers "should have the freedom to explore our sexual orientation and find our own unique expression of lesbian, bisexual, gay, straight, or any combination of these."

At a GLSEN conference in Boston in March, one seminar titled "Gender in the Early Childhood Classroom" discussed strategies to "set the tone for nontraditional gender role play" for pre-schoolers, while a panel of elementary school teachers talked about using "teachable moments as a means of addressing LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] issues and gender identity in the classroom."

GLSEN did not respond to repeated requests for comment from The Washington Times.

GLSEN describes as "disturbing" the claims of religious groups that homosexuals can change their behavior. An evangelist who spoke at yesterday's seminar challenged the GLSEN position.

"No one is born homosexual," said Stephen Bennett, a Connecticut man who spent 10 years as an active homosexual but is now married and father to two children.

"We should not be encouraging kids to embrace a homosexual agenda," Mr. Bennett said. "It's a very unloving thing GLSEN and these other homosexual groups are doing."

Hatch Amendment Letter

Parents, if you will use the Hatch Letter to demand that your child be educated and not made into a social engineering test pieces and teach them the Decalration of independence and Constitution, along with the weekly sermons found on the home page, your child will be prepared to take our country back!

The above long sentence is due to my having gone to a public school. Had I been homeschooled, I would have made the sentence more correct, if not perfect!

Following is the Hatch Amendment letter, this letter is designed to guarantee that parents can and do maintain the right to determine their child's educational path. We have done the letter on a white background with black letters in order to better enable you to copy it.

We suggest that you copy it to your word processor program, add the pertinent data, such as name, school etc. make and print four copies. One for the teacher, one for the principal, one for the superintendent of schools and one for yourself. These are best delivered in person. Be polite, but be firm! This is your child, not theirs God gave you the responsibility of raising that child (Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. (NIV)), not the schools and it is you that God will hold accountable for that child He has entrusted to you!
