SALT LAKE CITY

They're thinking they can pretty much do anything they damn well please, and as long as they squeeze the phrase "war on terrorism" in there somewhere, they're getting away with it.
Makes you wonder how many of these 'sky marshalls' were previously with the BATF.
Or maybe, the Stasi.
How can the authorities even THINK of imprisoning this man? He broke no law! He merely violated an expedient rule, concocted to make the Airlines and the Feds think they are "doing something" about security.
America was once a Nation of Laws which arose from common sense and common decency. We are now a Nation of petty Legalisms which arise out of common stupidity and the aims of wannabe tyrants.
You must be joking; right?
Gee ... should we have this 30 minute rule expanded to ALL destinations? ... how about for the whole flght? better yet, let's all have a new rule: NO GOING TO THE RESTROOM ON ANY DOMESTIC OR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT AT ANY TIME UNLESS ESCORTED BY AN AIR MARSHALL. There. Feel safer?
Because of the incident, air marshals aboard the plane ordered all passengers to put their hands on their heads for the rest of the flight. This is what happens when you put the former head of the Clinton-era ATF in charge of air travel security. His people act like jack booted thugs.
Whatever they did to the guy who had to go to the bathroom, there's absolutely no excuse for treating everyone on the flight like criminal suspects. All the marshalls should be fired, unless Magaw specifically authorized this approach. In that case he should be fired, but he never should have been in this position to begin with.

-who would have had certain fingers up the whole time.
I would have stood and cited Section 6, Para 13b, Clause 2.1 of the Annotated Rules and Regulations of the FAA and the Airlines Industry which clearly prohibits "glaring and signaling" and proscribes a 20 year prison sentence for the first offence.
Our world is out of frigging control......currently considering cocooning versus traveling as they have given every beancounter in the nation the authority to screw you over based on perception versus a physical act.
I'd suspect this story is lacking if the Air Marshal's had to jack up the entire passenger cabin . You know darn well that F-16's from hill were escorting the plane as it approached, and a battalion of FLEAS an LEOS/DOD rentals etc etc surrounded the AC as it landed in SLC and made a dance of death boarding with weapons drawn to remove said "suspect passengers (all of em).
This stuff is just getting too unsafe to potentially expose ones family too........
Stay Safe , Stay Home and let commerce/polidiots know why you do so..... just my opinion of course.
The law is the law.
Correction: The law is an @ss.
I have prostate cancer and the treatment for it (in my case) causes very, VERY irregular bladder control. When the urge hits, I have but seconds to find a SUITABLE container! BTW, this urge can hit 15-20 times a day and sometimes 3-4 times in a one hour period.
Unpleasant at best. Embarrassing to say the least. Since I had 90+ radioactive iodine seeds implanted in my prostate (to reside there for ever and ever), along with 25 massive and particularly focussed radiation treatments, the problem has lessened.
Now, before you make these pronouncements, I suggest you get a bit more information. I know one thing....
I will not fly on any plane that makes these stupid f'in rules!
Ummm, hate to break it to you two, but that's exactly what Todd Beamer, et al DID. It occurs to me that smart hijackers now will not announce themselves as hijackers, but rather pretend to be US Air Marshalls, and then sheeple passengers such as yourselves will meekly do whatever they're told.
Executive on Flight to Salt Lake City Is Charged for Going to the Lavatory
By MARTHA BRANNIGAN
A 59-year-old executive on a Delta Air Lines flight to Salt Lake City was charged with interfering with a flight crew after he allegedly stood up and went to the lavatory within 30 minutes of landing, despite a rule adopted for the Olympics that limits such movements by passengers.
Richard Bizzaro, chief executive officer of Unicity Network Inc., faces as long as 20 years in prison and a fine of as much as $250,000 if convicted on the charge, according to authorities. The Saturday arrest was the first since the rule was put in place for the Olympics.
"This is a classic example of a misunderstanding between everyone involved," said Mr. Bizzaro's attorney, Max Wheeler. He said Mr. Bizzaro wasn't aware of the rule and misinterpreted the flight attendant ordering him to his seat as "just being rude."
According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit filed in federal court in Salt Lake City, Mr. Bizzaro, a first-class passenger on a flight from Los Angeles, got up from his seat 25 minutes before landing and proceeded to the first-class lavatory after the crew had made two announcements advising passengers to remain seated for the last 30 minutes of the flight.
According to the affidavit, a flight attendant who saw him leaving the rest room told him to return to his seat immediately and felt Mr. Bizzaro, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds, "was attempting to intimidate her" when he stood and stared at her. The affidavit said he returned to his seat after "approximately a minute" and, according to a sky marshal on the plane -- one of several -- gave a "thumbs up," which the agent viewed as a hand signal to another passenger. After the incident, sky marshals took control of the cabin and ordered passengers to put their hands on their heads for the rest of the flight. The affidavit said Mr. Bizzaro removed his hands from his head and looked to the rear of the plane, but "became compliant" after an agent showed his credentials to him and threatened him with arrest if he didn't comply. Mr. Bizzaro was held in jail overnight and released on his own recognizance.
The rule restricting passengers' movements within 30 minutes of Salt Lake City during the Olympics is modeled after a similar Federal Aviation Administration regulation for flights at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., that went into effect after Sept. 11.
Mr. Bizzaro, who Monday issued an apology to the flight's passengers and crew, said that he "apparently dozed during the announcement of that rule." Unicity, of Orem, Utah, is a multilevel marketing concern that specializes in herbal products and is a division of Numico NV, of the Netherlands.
Tom Donahue, a Delta spokesman, said the Atlanta carrier "cooperated fully with authorities during and after the incident."
.................................
Given the fact that he "became compliant" after an agent showed his credentials to him and threatened him with arrest if he didn't comply. ", wasn't shackled, and his "accomplice" apparently wasn't questioned at all, I think the three air marshalls knew beyond question he was no threat and their treatment of the other passengers was clearly abusive.
According to the affidavit, a flight attendant who saw him leaving the rest room told him to return to his seat immediately and felt Mr. Bizzaro, who is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds, "was attempting to intimidate her" when he stood and stared at her.Shades of the Secret Service agent case. Apparently its now a federal crime to make any of these people the least bit nervous.

I would say the latter group was acting in self defense and your man was acting from selfish arrogance. If he had a bowel problem, he needed to tell the flight attendant instead of giving her a one-minute staredown. Contrary to your belief, I consider the air crews to be the good guys just trying to keep their throats intact.
Is this America?! Does no one else see the insanity here?!
Hold it right there!
Your use of the words American and America indicate a subtle reference to the Constitution and under current FBI guidelines of suspicion of engaging in terrorist activities ve have probable cause to detain you incommunicado and without counsel until the current War on Terrorists is over or in perpetuity, whichever comes first.
You also appear to be a 'Lone Individual', which fits the profile, unless of course we find someone posting back to you which we will construe as 'Cyber-Para-Military training exercises'. We will now be reviewing all of your posts and as long as we don't find any statements supporting the 2nd Ammendment or Christianity we may be persuaded to let you off with a 15 year warning sentence.
Hands away from that keyboard!
