Next Ice Age Begins

Amidst several decades of media flurry and hype several critical factors about the 'greenhouse effect' and 'global warming' have been left out of the forecasts:

1) There was no C02 buildup in the 1990s.

2) According NASA satellite data and several Antarctic studies recently released, the Earth has been cooling for the last 18 years, the western ice sheet is growing, and the interior valleys have been getting colder for the last 30 years.

Scientists who support the global warming theory have been surprised and embarrassed by the results of a number of long term studies. Remember the greenhouse effect? Well according to a NASA report released in November, 2001,

" The Earth's land based ecosystems absorbed all the carbon released by deforestation plus 1.4 billion tons emitted by fossil fuel burning in the 1990s."

The predicted C02 accumulation was offset by inceased plant uptake, a factor left out of the greenhouse models.

The Nov. issue of Science seemed to be scratching its head with this observation, " We noted in the last issue that Antarctic sea ice has been thickening sunstantially the past two years. Now we notice a scientific study released last spring that indicates this is a longer term phenomena."

Many climate experts believe we are overdue for an Ice Age. The ice core studies and long term weather research all indicate that the Earth alternates between ice ages and interglacials, we have been in a very long warm cycle.

This is summer at the South Pole and the penquins are stranded because of an ice buildup not blazing heat. This winter has been frigid all over Europe.

The Ice Man Cometh!

We need to burn up all the fossil fuels. This will release all that missing carbon into the biosphere, which will in turn support lots more plant life. Then the deserts can be reclaimed for productive use.

I remember how the environmentalists in the early 1970s were warning that pollution would cause another ice age. When the ice age failed to materialize, they started crying global warming. Looks like its time to go back to crying ice age.

I really don't want to support the "Global Warming" thing..But I must say..here in Western PA..It's been WAY TOO mild of a winter. It's either that, or my blood is seriously thick this season..

Every 100,000 years, the global climate sharply transitions into a major ice age due to astronomical factors.

Guess what, that historical transition is due now.

I thought the ice age cycle was closer to 10,000 years.

Am I wrong???

I thought the ice age cycle was closer to 10,000 years.

In recent millions of years, ice ages have been the norm and the "interglacial periods" have been typically short, on the order of 10,000 years long, with the typical ice ages lasting much longer.

We are currently near the end of a 10,000 year warm (interglacial) period.
