Morris Telling Off Van Sustern Live!
Fox News | February 7, 2002 | Me

Posted on 02/07/2002 6:41:08 PM PST by Land_of_Lincoln_John

Check it out! Dick Morris is telling Greta Van Sustern that "She has no idea what she is talking about."

On terrorism, Clinton looked the other way, according to Morris. When Van Sustern objected, Morris snapped: "I was there, you weren't."

Morris to Van Sustern: "You are still a CNN person."

When the facts are on your side, argue the facts. When the facts are against you, attack the person. Why do you think she decided to start out attacking his credibility instead of discussing the facts? Exactly, you have to hand it to her, she is extremely intelligent.

Intelligent, but not smart.

This may work with the typical person that doesn't do much thinking about the arguments presented, but It may back fire with the typical FOX viewer.

My guess is a substantial portion of FOX's audience is made up of people who can see past this type of tactic. They got tired of seeing the spin on other stations. FOX built its audience by "presenting the facts, and letting the audience decide".

I have a theory. Putting a liberal on Fox draws loyal Gretta watchers (the appliantology crowd led by L. Ron Hover) over to Fox... where they, for the first time, are exposed to the truth.

Never buy into a complicated explination when a simple one will do.

FOX is in business to make money. They do that by increasing the number of viewers. If they think they have mined the conservative viewing audience for about all the viewers they can get, where are they going to get more viewers? From the left.

Greta's show will probably have much different demographics than the two shows preceding it. FOX can now offer advertisers two different sets of demographics depending on who they want to reach.

"The anger probably came from continualy being cut off in mid-sentence. It's hard to have a civil discussion with someone when one party keeps talking over you or cutting you off before you have had time to finish your point."

That tactic is straight out of The Feminista Playbook. I started noticing it being implemented back in the mid-1980s. In its original form, it consisted of simply talking over the other side, without raising the voice, as if the other side was silent and listening. Ideally the other side will raise his voice, as the feminista continues on and on and on, not so much as acknowledging that the other side is talking (let alone acknowledging that he is protesting being interrupted and steamrollered!)

It's one of the fouler "debating" tactics, and has unfortunately taken root and spread like cancer over the years.

I would say 'Intelligent but not able to conceal her SUBJECTIVE involvement'..Of course many could see exactly what she was doing. However, all FOX cares about is ratings. As long as she can produce drama like she did last night, she may stay. I had decided I couldn't stand her voice, but decided to see what ole Dicky-poo had to say when the action started. I notice she has Pat Buchanan scheduled tonight when everyone will be watching the Olympics...hmmm

Even Tip O'Neil liked him!

Argh, coffee deficiency, operator halted.

Has it occurred to you that the great poll taker is probably dropping in on these threads to see what is being said? That he will craft his next "message" based upon what is said about him? Does he ever speak from the heart, or just from the polls and information he can glean from feedback? That must be a sad life to live. He can get information but he can't understand it cause he has no heart. Tin man Morris.

regards

To Dick Morris: If TWA 800 was "terror," then why did Bill Clinton utter the word "oops" in the sit room when it exploded? I suppose the downing of Ron Brown's flight was terror too!

I cannot stand her grating voice and her awful hairdo. We just don't watch it unless something is really on that I want to see. All these wannabe blonds with their hair parted down the middle with dark "skunk" lines where their hair dye is growing out just don't do it for me. Don't they have hairdressers on Fox that can give these women real hairdos instead of the straight look? AAAAHHHH. The voice is the real clincher. Glad Morris said something useful.

Hannity and Colmes do it all the time. That's one reason I don't like to watch it. You can never hear anyone over the other and it's extremely annoying.

If any of you have any doubts about Dick Morris and his reporting of the facts about his time in the Clinton White HOuse, then you should read his book, "Behind The Oval Office". It is a very good read and does have detailed meeting with Clinton where he attempted to remind him of some of the issues that were pointed out on the program last night. Undoubtedly, Greta did not read his book before having Morris on the show, or she would never gone there. He has not changed his stance in any direction in his appearances on TV or in his articles.

I for one have admired his honesty and his facts. He is probably one of the sharpest and most articulate political strategist in this era. One thing is for certain, since 9/11, he has become more passionate about the terroim issue. Morris, even tried to draw Greta's attention back to her previous interview with Stephen Emerson, the terroist expert. (Incidently, there was an article on this site yesterday about how Emerson having been boy-cotted by NPR for his views in earlier years on terrorist activities.) Greta would not relent and even comment on her own piece with Emerson to Morris.

I wish that FOX had not given this time slot to Greta. I will watch other channels when she is on.FOX will not care. It is just about ratings. And I agree totally with those on this post, who thinks that FOX will dump the conservative listening audience if they think it will get them there. I don't watch O'Reilly(I love myself so much and all the dispariging charity remarks he has made) anymore. HE IS A REAL BORE.......(It is Alan Keyes, ER or the new show The agency in place of Greta and America Now with Kudlow and Cramer in place of O'Reilly.

I missed it live, but fell asleep during H&C (sorry, it was late) at 11 pm PST, and woke up just in time to hear the promo for Dick Morris. I jumped up, got the VCR rolling, and stood amazed! Dick had her on the ropes from the first exchange - she was totally on the defensive and lost control of the interview immediately. Dick kicked liberal butt.

I would imagine they had a pretty histile pre-cameras-on exchange that spilled into the interview.

To Dick Morris: If TWA 800 was "terror," then why did Bill Clinton utter the word "oops" in the sit room when it exploded?

He said at the time they thought it was terrorism. It was later they decided it was an accident. Same with the Olympic park bombing. The initial reaction was that it was a terrorist. Only later did they decide it was a lone nut.
