Prayer Request
2/5/02 | Grenada

Posted on 02/05/2002 8:10:20 PM PST by Grenada

I have always tried to pray for prayer requests and now I am going to ask you to pray for my husband. It may seem like a selfish prayer, but in my heart I do not believe it is all that selfish. My husband has always wanted to be a neurosurgeon; his whole life he has wanted to be a neurosurgeon. It hasn't been an easy road. He was rejected from medical school three years in a row, and when he was finally accepted, it was in a third world country. It didn't matter that it wasn't Harvard. He wanted to be a neurosurgeon, so we immediately packed our bags and moved to Grenada. We lived a very hard life there and payed our own way. He wanted to be a neurosurgeon; not for the money, respect, or admiration. He has a gift. His gift is his hands. Every surgeon he has worked with in medical school has admired his hands. We just found out today that he was not accepted into any neurosurgery programs, and he is devastated.

Tomorrow he has a small chance to get into one of seven positions that went unfilled. He has the chance to do so much good, to help so many people. If you were sick and in need, this is the kind of doctor you would want. He is full of compassion and caring, and he believes in Our Lord Savior, Jesus Christ. I ask you to pray that he receives one of these positions. Not just for him, but for all the people he could help.

Please pray for my husband, he needs all the help he can get now. Thank you. Meghan

Hey butthead, who asked your opinion?

The lady asked a favor, and in light of that, if you've nothing positive to say, then leave it be.

Why would he go into dentistry? He scored in the 93rd percentile on his boards, which everyone takes--including US students. He has spent the last two years of school at St. Barnabas hospital in New Jersey. Ever heard of it? He is a QUALIFIED Doctor, graduating with honors. He kicked most US medical students a** on the boards. Are YOU a real doctor, or is doom the only accurate part of your handle.

By the way, I highly doubt you know if your Doctor attended St. George's ....they are everywhere.

He is full of compassion and caring, and he believes in Our Lord Savior, Jesus Christ. I ask you to pray that he receives one of these positions. Not just for him, but for all the people he could help.

I pray that both you and your husband trust in the Lord and go where He leads you. If not this position at this time, His plans may be for a place where your husband can do more good.

Please remember that all of us find out that our plans and wishes are not always His for us and we eventually realize that His are best. I pray that you leave the decision in God's hands and accept the outcome. Trust Him.

I admire your wonderful support for your husband and wish all God's abundant blessings on your future.

Perhaps you are not aware of how difficult it is to get into medical school? The process is very political, and you almost have to know someone that knows someone.
You do not just sign up like you do for adult education! I am sure you are trying to be witty, but I daresay you are missing the mark a bit!

It's harder getting into vet school than med school.

I pray that the seven unfilled positions go to the best doctors and I certainly hope that includes your husband. If he cannot be a neurosurgeon, I hope and pray he finds another specialty that matches his talents. I have a special admiration for surgeons of all kinds.

Our Father and our God, I pray for Meagan's husband. Lord, nothing is too hard for you. You know his heart and the burden he has to become a neurosurgeon. Your word says that you "work within us to will and do of your good pleasure" and that you delight to give your children the desires of their hearts. Father, if it is your will, I humbly ask that you would allow him to receive one of the openings that are left. If that is not your will, give my dear brother in Christ, the grace he needs not to give up in despair, but to rest in you and trust that you love him and want to do what is best for him and his family. Help him to realize that you have something better for him in his future and give him the faith he needs to trust in you to bring it to fruition. I ask this humbly in the precious name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, amen.
