Encouraging, if accurate.
Only if you believe that everyone that calls themselves a conservative really is.
I don't
Most of the today's conservatives are warmed over democrats of 30 years ago that are feeling very nationalistic and fascist.
Those that still believe in traditional conservative values are few and far between.
The conservative movement in America took a snapshot of itself over the weekend and liked what it saw.Conservatives should take note...we're at a point in history when the right course of action could effect a paradigm shift within the political ideals in our country and steer our nation on a path more towards the intent of our Founding Fathers.
It saw youth swelling its ranks, a shift in emphasis away from social issues to personal freedom, and a Republican in the White House it can embrace - big-time.
huh???????
No they aren't. The vast majority of conservatives simply are adult enough to know what is possible to achieve and what is not. As far as nationalistic fascists are concerned, if National Socialists exist at all in the GOP, they can fit in a phone booth.
"The vast majority of conservatives simply are adult enough to know what is possible to achieve and what is not
In other words. "If you can't beat them, join them."
and that is exactly why they are warmed over Democrats.
Octagenerians say the darnest things.
No, it is the way our system works. In 1979, Democrats had more of a majority in the House than the GOP had seats. They ran everything else too. Same thing in 1994. Even with huge majorities, control of the universities, control of the media, control of k-12 education, liberals couldn't get everything they wanted enacted into law. The crown jewel they've been trying to put on the New Deal for decades, nationalized health care, went down in flames.
I want separation of school and state, SS privatized, more Federal agencies than I can count eliminated. But I'm not naive enough to think that when the GOP controls the House by a slim majority, has the executive and does not have the Senate, any of that is going to happen.
I'll take what I can get today and ask for more tomorrow. Bashing the GOP for not doing what they can't do is counterproductive.
The left sure doesn't think the GOP has joined the Democrat party. They spend hundreds of millions each election cycle trying to knock off Republicans.
