The mantra or todays GOP/conservative reads as follows

"The vast majority of conservatives simply are adult enough to know what is possible to achieve and what is not

In other words. "If you can't beat them, join them."

and that is exactly why they are warmed over Democrats.

No, it is the way our system works. In 1979, Democrats had more of a majority in the House than the GOP had seats. They ran everything else too. Same thing in 1994. Even with huge majorities, control of the universities, control of the media, control of k-12 education, liberals couldn't get everything they wanted enacted into law. The crown jewel they've been trying to put on the New Deal for decades, nationalized health care, went down in flames.

I want separation of school and state, SS privatized, more Federal agencies than I can count eliminated. But I'm not naive enough to think that when the GOP controls the House by a slim majority, has the executive and does not have the Senate, any of that is going to happen.

I'll take what I can get today and ask for more tomorrow. Bashing the GOP for not doing what they can't do is counterproductive.

The left sure doesn't think the GOP has joined the Democrat party. They spend hundreds of millions each election cycle trying to knock off Republicans.
