ISLAMABAD, Pakistan

I don't think it sounds good, either. There's somehow something odd about it. First of all, while the letter is laden with errors and odd constructions, it seems to me as if someone has far too good a mastery of colloquial American English to have picked it up in Pakistan. The easy use of the contraction ("don't")wouldn't be something for a merely occasional non-native speaker, even somebody who used chat-rooms. I don't know any Arabic languages, so I don't know if these grammatical mistakes would be typical of an Arabic speaker or not. (People tend to preserve some of their native language structures when writing in a second language.)
I was also puzzled by Amrikan. Perhaps it was an attempt to spell Amerikan (remember, the radical left was always referring to America as Amerika).
And, as many people here have pointed out, the photograph is also a little disturbing. It's not possible to be sure that it's Pearl (who, furthermore, appears to be wearing the kind of nylon running suit or windbreaker jacket often favored by natives of Arab countries, judging from pictures I have seen). And the fact that the clean, smooth-looking hand holding the gun appears to be wearing a gold ring also indicates that we're not talking about crazed goat-herders here.
Uh, prolly. Hollywood. Uh, most likely.
I think he looks like Tim Allen.
The sooner the world gets that concept straight, the sooner this problem might be solved.
Hey, those are good left-wing-nut-job concepts; who could possibly disagree?

This thought crossed my mind for a moment yesterday. I don't know whether to hope I'm wrong or right! We don't really want a hostage but if he's just looking for noteriety and messing around with our national security...
The NYT claimed Monday that the emails were coming from Hotmail, with the user name kidnapperguy@hotmail.com.
When you send email from a Hotmail account, the IP address of the host you're connecting from is included in the email header.
Unless they're covertly hacking into another computer and using that to access Hotmail, their location has already been ID'd.
These terrorists are already toast.
They can not leave there religion because of fear of retaliation. This is truly an evil religion.
well ain't that the American spirit...
Seriously, tho, WHERE is the outrage from that biotch in English Parliament, et al?? We take prisoners and give them prayer mats, they take prisoners and put guns to their heads and write notes with poor spelling.....and we're the bad guys!!!
KARACHI JAN 30 (PNS): Pakistani investigators of the Daniel Pearl kidnapping case have discovered that the man who had invited Pearl for a meeting at a downtown Karachi restaurant just before he went missing on Wednesday last made at least six phone calls to two different numbers in New Delhi before he abandoned his mobile phone on Saturday last, informed officials have confirmed here.
Not directly related to this issue, but just a little tidbit of info I picked up on this morning...
Sydney, Australia - January 22, 2002 - Asia Global Crossing (NYSE:AX) has won a multi-million dollar contract to provide the Seven Network with transmission capacity for its domestic broadcast of the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games in February 2002 and the Commonwealth Games being staged in Manchester from July-August 2002.
Very interesting considering Hutchison Whampoa is now bailing Global Crossing out with a buyout. We all know the origins of Hutchison Whampoa...is there mischief afoot by the ChiComs?
American Muslim? I have found few, if any of those. Muslims that happen to live in America? Lot's of those.
Islam. We have seen it in action. We have learned it's teachings and what it wants. It wants all that is not Islam to be Islam. Pretty simple.
