Facing The Truth About Homosexual Behavior

By Rev. Louis P. Sheldon
Chairman, Traditional Values Coalition

Washington, DC – In 1987, a homosexual magazine called Guide published an article that laid out a detailed marketing plan for selling the normalization of homosexuality through the mass media. The article, "The Overhauling of Straight America,"* was eventually expanded into a full-length book called After the Ball: How America will conquer its fear & loathing of Gays in the 90’s.

Authors Marshall Kirk and Erastes Pill, writing in the Guide article, note the following: "In the early stages of any campaign to reach straight America, the masses should not be shocked and repelled by premature exposure to homosexual behavior itself. Instead, the imagery of sex should be downplayed and gay rights should be reduced to an abstract social question as much as possible. First let the camel get his nose inside the tent—only later his unsightly derriere!" The objective has been to portray homosexuality as a fixed, unchangeable sexual identity—one that is determined at birth. This is untrue, but the propaganda campaign has largely succeeded.

The plan was—and still is—to present the controversy surrounding homosexuality as a civil rights issue—not about dangerous and unnatural homosexual behaviors. In addition, this marketing campaign includes an effort to portray homosexuals as victims of an intolerant society who need special legal protections. Kirk and Pill note: "In any campaign to win over the public, gays must be cast as victims in need of protection so that straights will be inclined by reflex to assume the role of protector." Kirk and Pill also recommend smearing their enemies, comparing them to the KKK and Nazis. They write: "To be blunt, they must be vilified….we intend to make the antigays look so nasty that average Americans will want to dissociate themselves from such types."

This marketing plan—designed to hide the facts about homosexual behavior, to portray homosexuals as victims, and to vilify their enemies—has been wildly successful. A compliant mainstream media has helped homosexuals accomplish many of these goals. One major newspaper syndicate, for example, has given homosexual activist Deb Price a weekly column to promote Kirk and Pill’s propaganda campaign.

Fortunately, there are still voices of sanity who are speaking out against the effort to portray homosexual behavior as normal and determined by birth. One such individual is Dr. A. Dean Byrd, vice president of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH). Dr. Byrd authored "The Innate-Immutable Argument Finds No Basis In Science." In it, he quotes a number of homosexual researchers and activists who admit that they can find no genetic basis for homosexual behavior.

One of those is Dean Hamer who tried to find a genetic cause for homosexuality by examining the DNA code at the end of the X chromosome. According to Hamer: "There is not a single master gene that makes people gay . . . . I don’t think we will be able to predict who will be gay."

The words of homosexual activist Camille Paglia are equally telling: "Homosexuality is not ‘normal.’ On the contrary, it is a challenge to the norm . . . Nature exists whether academics like it or not. And in nature, procreation is the single relentless rule. That is the norm. Our sexual bodies were designed for reproduction . . . No one is born gay. The idea is ridiculous . . . homosexuality is an adaptation, not an inborn trait."

Dr. Byrd’s article is must reading for anyone who wants to understand the true nature and origin of homosexual behaviors. It deserves to be widely distributed to educators, legislators, and to editors and reporters. It is available at: www.narth.com/docs/innate.html.

If it was private, how is it that they can be prosecuted in the first place? Every criminal sodomy case that I've seen referenced on this board since I've been here has not resulted from a private act. Since you can't be referring to anything going on in the present, were you referring to something that someone else suggested?

There have been a few cases in which people have been prosecuted for sodomy despite efforts to keep it private. In one case, for example, (IIRC) police entered an apartment on a no-knock raid on a drug tip; I don't remember if they found any drugs, but they did find two men engaged in sodomy whom they arrested for that.

IMHO, any anti-sodomy statutes should be written so as to only apply if the participants had reason to believe they might be observed by unwilling spectators, and should apply as well to indecent heterosexual activity.

I haven't really heard many people argue that homosexuality has a genetic component to it, after all, if that were the case, it probably would have bred itself out of existence.

Not necessarily. Suppose there is a gene that causes those carrying it to be more strongly attracted to males and less strongly to females than would otherwise be the case. This gene would likely harm the "reproductive success rate" of any males carrying it, but would increase the success rate of females. It is hardly implausible that the latter effect could more than make up for the former, with the effect that this gene would be present in succeeding generations.

I hate to bring it up, but anal sex is said to be very prevalent among hetrosexuals. It's another thing I don't hear much about among people who rail about anal sex. (I'm not implying that you do)

Well, anal sex is a way of having something sorta like sex without getting a woman pregnant. And in some cultures that's probably the reason for its popularity. Unfortunately, if the lack of pregnancy risk leads to an acceptance of promiscuous anal sex (whether homo or hetro) diseases like AIDS may spread like wildfire.

No, it simply is the result of thinking that something can exist outside of one's individual self which is worthy of preservation and encouragement. Those things are the result of years of human activity which if allowed to dissipate with the individual life results in a civilization which collapses into a spiritual morass.

Since you are an atheist I cannot expect that you will comprehend the existence of spiritual forces for good and evil and thereby will be unable to correctly chose between the two. But cultures and civilizations are spiritual organisms that stretch across time and space and live within a brief moment of time.

Enlightened individuals choose to ally themselves with the good in their civilizations and perpetuate those good things.

Cynics, those of little or no faith, mockers and evil peoples make it their habit to attack the enlightened with deceit and lies about their goals and beliefs.

American civilization is such a creation which should be studied, understood and nutured. The State has a role in that and cannot be wished away. Marx, indeed, was the one who predicted the withering away of the State. I don't.

There are no more saintly teachers in proportion than saintly programmers and no more fools either.

My late wife was a public school teacher in inner city Chicago for years and the reality of her job and your ignorant caricature of a teacher only reveals your lack of knowledge. The hours and work load would kill a horse and I repeated told her to change jobs and go make some real money. She was, like those you mentioned, willing to forgo more money for love of her children and they loved her. And was a rare gleam of light in their bleak lives.

Not all teachers are like her certainly not enough but far more are the time servers you describe.

I am glad home schooling worked for you but it is not a viable alternative for many people because of the (opportunity) cost involved and the foregoing of specialized teachers. There is no way my parents could have provided home schooling for me with anywhere the depth I was able to obtain at high school. But I enjoyed school and had fun, too. Sorry more people don't have that experience including my sons. One was schooled in one of the finest public schools in Chicago and hated it. The other in one of the finest private schools in Chicago and he hates it. So go figure.

If you wish it to be private then keep it that way and don't ask me to watch some flaming fruits swapping spit in front of my children while feeling each other up.

I wish that homosexuals that want to be lead their own sex lives discretely without harassment would recognize that Act Up et al. are no more their friends than are bigots who assault even homosexuals who try to be discrete.

BTW, there's a difference between being discrete and being totally secretive; I don't think the latter should be required, but unfortunately Act-Up et al. make it necessary to those who don't want to be associated with them.

I sure wish people would read the thread so I didn't have to type the same thing over and over.

I find myself thinking this far too often.

Unfortunately, I can never find the specifics on cases offered up in this manner. No location, no names of those arrested, no news stories relating to the verdict of the trial and what the sentence was and so on.

This sounds vaguely similar to a case in Georgia where the police arrived to serve a warrant (not a 'no-knock') and observed the sodomy from the sidewalk through the living room window. The two men were charged with sodomy but they couldn't have had any expectation of privacy committing sodomy in front of a street-level window. Unless, of course, they are stupid as well as sick.

IMHO, any anti-sodomy statutes should be written so as to only apply if the participants had reason to believe they might be observed by unwilling spectators, and should apply as well to indecent heterosexual activity.

I'd generally go along with that.

All gays are not screamin' queens all right. Many are lost in the crowd types. Many look just like the guy next door.

I think the U.S. has a national paradigm, loaded with assumptions, that its inhabitants have a hard time recognizing. (We all live in paradigms that are more or less invisible to us.) From outside the U.S., it's easy to see and no doubt very annoying, especially since American influences are so ubiquitous. The foolish assumptions and paradigms of Liberals and their followers are infuriating to me! Is this what you mean when you say that sometimes Americans just don't get it? Or do you mean something else?

I don't really have a horse in the sex race, but I am left-handed. I was doing some reading a few weeks ago when I realized the similarities between hand dominance and sexual orientation. It seemed an easy parallel to draw, and hand preference doesn't come with as much religious baggage as sex. Of course, we southpaws have dealt with our share of religious persecution in the past. But that is no longer in vogue, it seems. In fact, many of my religious friends haven't referred to me as a "sinistral" for several months.

Ah, I see your nefarious plotting now. You unjesusly left-handed cretins are trying to legitimize your evil lifestyle. You should all be destroyed for your choice in handedness.

Look, I'm as open-minded as the next guy. I don't care which hand you use in your own bedroom. As long as I don't have to see you freaks out in public, I don't care.

You assert that two homosexuals kissing with passion is the same as two heterosexuals kissing with passion.

The only sameness I put on that is that neither couple should be doing that in public. Once it gets PG-13 it for private time, straight or gay I don't care. As for quick pecks you should hang out with Italians, they've perfected the concept of the non-sexual man to man kiss.

I think it's a crappy deal no matter what reason someone uses.

Hey buddy! What business is it of yours what I do? I'll use BOTH hands if I want to, and whatcha gonna do, then, huh!?! I'd keep it to myself, but you people are always throwing it in my face! Coffee mugs, handshakes, playing cards, can openers, fishing poles, telephones, wallets and walkie-talkies... all designed specifically to oppress me and my kind!

[snif] I just wish you people would let me be myself!

I find myself thinking this far too often.

Probably should write up a position paper or two on libertarian thinking (or LDS/libertarian thinking, and there are plenty of quotes from Joseph Smith and Brigham Young to help me make my point), upload it to my personal web page and then just post links to it in cases like this.

Why, WindMinstrel, I had no idea that you were such a, um, er, well, maniphobe?

How gauche.

[rim shot goes here]

Left-handed, ambidextrous, what's the difference? Ooh, and what if you kids' public school teacher is a "leftie"? Just what kind of agenda are your kids being exposed to, anyway?
