JimRob's Vanity Post on Vanity Posts, Duplicate Posts, Trash Posts, Commie Propaganda, etc., Vol V,

Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.
And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?
And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.
And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.
Thanks,
Jim

Is there a reason you keep putting up multiple posts of this vanity into breaking news? Are you going out of your way to show us what NOT to do?

Did you post that link as an example of what not to do? Actually I think it is a good idea to have one thread a day dedicated to "off-topic" stuff. That way, all the bizarre stories and such can be contained in a single daily thread, easily avoided by those who want nothing to do with it.
Anyway, that is just my opinion.

Could you please link previous threads to this one? Thanks. And thank you for bringing it back to the top. The more it is seen, the better it will be.

I have a question. How about the threads of 'Caption This Pic' that fuel 300 posts of nasty comments of how Chelsea Clinton looks? Would that be a trash post or is that furthering Conservatism?

You call this "Breaking News?"

Duplicat posts are a waste of server storage space. It does not take much time to key-word search based on a word or two from the headline (provided someone hasn't screwed with the headline...) and see if an item was previously posted or not. TV is for re-runs; we ought to be smart enough to search before we post.
To: SpeaksTruthToPower
You are supposed to do a search of the headline of the article you are going to post to see if anybody else posted it already. That's why JimRob wants us to not alter the title, so that we can find an article if it has already been posted.
However, I have sometimes gotten tripped up because the same article may appear on a different website under a different title. For example, an article from the AP wire may have a certain headline but the same article may appear on the Washington Times website under a different headline.
It is time for us all to start pulling together so that we can elect more Republicans in November.

It is also a duplicate Post

Many people are not/can not access FR during the weekend, that is why we are keeping this in breaking news for a while.
The link to the previous thread is in reply #1, and here.

I thoroughly agree that trash from Democratic Underground shouldn't be posted, and I've occasionally said so; not because it's left-wing but because it's just plain stupid and pointless. We need to know what people like Daschle are saying, but we don't need to know what some unknown idiot at DU is saying.
I do like an occasional good humorous post. Some of the funniest things on the net are posted here, and I like to e-mail them to friends. It would be too bad if they all got buried in a grab-bag thread.

Agreed. If I'm about to post an article amd I see it's already here and stagnant, I BTTT it so others may get a chance to see it.

"If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat."Is Chelsea a democrat? Has she expressed her political views? Is she a legal adult? If you answered yes to these question, then I think she is fair game.
