The couple are "not the monsters"...

Of course they're not monsters.

They are excrement, however, and should be flushed.

Wow, someone who saw the movie or read the book besides me! Yeah, I'd like to see that kind of swift justice for the people who admit to crimes like these.

I saw a documentary some time ago, forget the name and where........but I do remember that (a) he truly was a world class sicko, and (b) justice was swift in coming.

What the heck is going on in "dear ole" Deutchland? I'm sure the US has this type too, but I would hope the justice system here would have the guts to ask for a death penalty!

Well, there were two movies, one was Citizen X on HBO, and there was a documentary made about the guy, but not sure what it was called.

The book that I read was called "The Red Ripper", written in the late 80's early 90's, not sure when it came out, I read it in 1991. Very creepy, very sadistic. This guy was severely messed up. The book was far more detailed, and filled ina lot of gaps that weren't in either the film or the documentary. I thought Steven Reah did a great job as the chief of detectives in Citizen X.

If you get a chance, I think you can pick up the book pretty cheap as a paperback at the discount book store. I think there are a couple others, but that one in particular was the most disturbing by far. It really dealt with his psychological problems, and goes pretty far to explain it from all points of view. I might have to go re-read that this year.
