Also gone are most references to the inhumane treatment many American soldiers endured in wars overseas during the 20th century. However, the standards specifically note that students should identify slavery, the Holocaust and modern Iraq as examples "in which people have behaved in cruel and inhumane ways."

Yes, but the Republican Party completely disregards its own history. The GOP freed the slaves, the KKK was the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party, Susan B. Anthony and most of the other suffragists were Republicans -- but not even most Republican activists know that.

American History began with the Civil Rights Movement. Before that, it was nothing but a group of racist men ruling through white "supremacy".

The new founding fathers are MLK Jr. and Malcomb X because they "founded" a nation of eqaulity. Just ask President Clinton. He speaks on this topic all the time.

Add to that that Martin Luther King Jr. was also a Republican. The Left doesn't mention that little tidbit any time King's name is mentioned.

Trust me, New Jersey is only the tip of the iceberg on this matter. Other states are soon to follow. This is a result of our glorious, baby-boomers now in their 40's and 50's that are running our country. These are the same baby- boomers who were a bunch of dope-smoking, pot heads who are in charge of our school systems and other important positions in government. It looks like G-d has decided to let the United States of Amerika go in its own direction. Look to the old Roman Empire for evidence on where our country may someday end up.

I am a product of St. Rose of Lima (Freehold) and Red Bank Catholic H. S. (Red Bank). Both schools taught me my love of history and New Jersey's role in the history of our country.

Many an hour was spent in the old, musty Monmouth County History Museum looking at arrowheads or minie balls or a bunch of us looking for Molly Pitcher's well in some farmer's field.

What in God's name has happened to my wonderful home state?

That is rhetorical but I am so depressed after reading this. Sometimes, I think our battle is hopelessly lost.

No I'm not calling Forrest a liar but the way the statement was made was that the KKK was originally started out as a racist group when you know that one reason the original Klan was disbanded in the second half of the 1860s was because of the fear that it was becoming racist.

What is so pathetically sad, is that there are Americans that deny our history. Using the rose-colored glasses of the 21^st century when looking at the past can only lead to myopic vision.

I wonder what the penalty is for those courageous teachers who sneak the founding fathers into a discussion about some of our holidays, pictures on money, things kids get on the internet etc.
