It would be nice to visit the Elves, to hear their songs and stories, to talk to thousand-year-old beings. Maybe that's why I keep going back to the movie and rereading the book - I want Elves, like I want dragons and faery creatures of all sorts. Maybe Elves aren't real - but they should be, don't you think?

Definitely! They've always been one of my favorite parts of the book. Imagine, being able to talk to someone with three thousand years of experience, knowledge, wisdom! As someone who plays a musical instrument, I've always wondered what it would be like to listen to an elf musician who presumably has had at least a thousand years or so to perfect his skills..not to mention their poets, their architects, etc., etc.

It's mind-boggling just thinking about the possibilities.
