New Zealander builds Hobbit hole A New Zealand man has built a Hobbit house. Carl Gifford, a stonemason from Wellington, says he used a 10-tonne digger to make the hole. He's put rocks either side of the front door and plans to install a chimney and lantern on top. He told the Evening Post he was embarrassed as he was constructing the home. He said: "I must admit I was hiding as the cars were driving past. I thought, 'These people think I'm an idiot'." The house is part of a series of stonework mounds, designs and sculptures dotted around his land. "I'm just having a bit of fun. Things that were built by those ancient people like caves have always fascinated me." |
Oh, you're gonna fit in great here! This is just the kind of thing we love. A statement such as this can spark a discussion that can last all day.
GOOD!!
Im in a p*ssy mood myself...too bad that guy who wants to kill this thread doesnt have enough political intelligence to just ignore us!!! GEEZ!!
As for seedcake, I have a REAL recipe for one!! Let me see if I can dig it up....BRB....
Oven to 350 degrees F
Blend butter and sugar until well creamed. Add eggs one at a time, processing after each one. Add sherry (or milk) and spices and blend. Add flour and baking powder.
Pour batter into greased loaf pan.
Bake for 50-70 minutes (or when knife inserted in middle comes out 'clean').
But I grabbed up this recipe as soon as I saw it in an herb magazine...it is an eighteenth century recipe, so I figure it must be something that you would find in a hobbit hole!!
Cheers, my dear hobbit friends!! EAT, DRINK, and BE MERRY (no not the Brandybuck kind...)
BTW, *fake growl* nobody mess with MY hobbits, Merry and Pippin...they are my favs!!! LOL LOL LOL
What does that mean?
What does that mean?
This is a marvelous topic as are the other LotR topics here at FR. I've enjoyed reading every word, every opinion and every observation. If after Sept. 11th we need anything, it's hope, and these books (and I'm sure the movies) offer it in abundance. Innocence and good triumphing over consummate evil is a message that must spred and grow and never fade away.
I can't express in words, the joy this story has brought to me for more than 30 years, but I love to read others as they try. Thank you for a great read.
1) let the butter sit out until room temperature...it will become soft and make it easier to cream with the sugar.
2) dry ingred. go with dry, wet with wet...I dont think it really matters in which order you mix the two (dry to wet, OR wet to dry) but I would say that if you add dry to wet, do it gradually, because the flour etc can get kicked up as you mix and go everywhere.
3) never be afraid of tasting...a little raw egg never hurt anyone (Cookie dough lovers, UNITE!!)
4) When all else fails, follow the recipe...
LOL
COOOL...just perfect for my mood today...
Thanks!! :D
