Russ Feingold, DICK Gephardt, RINO Shays, are all at this anti-Constitutional press conference. This is bad news, folks. They want to STOP political speech 30 days before the election.
To: Recovering_Democrat
So who are the rat-bastard GOP members who support the CFR abomination? Who signed on to get this to a vote?
To: Recovering_Democrat
I will agree to stop my speech if they agree to stop theirs (that goes for the NYTimes as well).
To: Recovering_Democrat
I'm hoping that some who signed the discharge petition only wanted the matter to be voten on openly. I'm hoping that it will GO DOWN IN FLAMES!!

Diddle, I want to know, too, who the RINOs were who decided to sign on to this JOKE of a bill.
How dare these socialists and sympathizers for the left tell me how I can exercise my political speech!I am truly outraged!

Should have capitalized LITTLE as well.

I am outraged too. I've been mad all week because of a local media jihad on the subject. I gave up reading it. Grrr! If it passes I will demand they not speak either (for all the good it will do). They think they have exclusives on the 1st Amendment. They're sadly mistaken. Jerks!

Not a problem. Pass the thing, give Dubya a chance to declare the NY Times, Washington Post etc. to be 'functional parts of the Democratic Party' and direct the FEC to charge the free publicity the media give the Dems against what the Dems are allowed to spend.
I suspect this will quickly see the law repealed.

You need to get on the phone, write your representatives and editorials to your local papers and let them know what you think.....do it now! Democracy works only when it's practiced! The conservative voice is under attack!

Thank God!
It is the "avoidance" of the "great populist" that is in this vote. Politics will still be the playground of the rich.. but lets stop the wholesale selling of our highest offices.
This is good news and needs to be done.
Bump against the far right....
CFR is good.

I don't own a newspaper or TV station. Giving $50 - $500 - or even 50,000 to the candidate whose policies are like my own is the only way I (a "working family" kinda guy) can make my voice have any effect to counter the voice of the NYTimes and CNN, etc.
This plan is horseshit through and through (as is the current law, I might ad) and eliminates the voice of the little guy who does not agree with Newsweak and PMNSNBC (who love the democrats).

First, this petition merely takes the bill out of committee and opens it for debate.
Second, it has to be passed by both House and Senate.
Third, it has to pass through the House/Senate conference committee.
Fourth, it has to be signed by W.
Fifth, it has to survive the inevitable lower court challenges, which likely will place an injunction on the enactment of the law.
Finally, it has to survive the Supremes (if it gets that far).
There are too many difficulties associated even with getting it passed in both houses, much less surviving the conference committee with teeth intact, for me to get too worked up about it.

The campaign finance bill is exceedingly bad news. You can be muted in your political speech by choice. Don't take away my voice.
To: Recovering_Democrat
No power on earth is going to stop me from expressing my political views in this country. My First Amendment rights weren't in Congress' power to give and they're not in its power to take away.

Worth repeating!

Let's hope these guys ammend this stupid bill so that it allows all incumbents to be elected for life. I hope they keep doing these things. Maybe someday the people of this country will wake up. I doubt it though.
