***PROOF of Media Bias**** Gun Control Poll 180 degrees off on what was reported vs. their web site!
KTHV (CBS Affiliate-Little Rock) ^ | 23 JAN 02 | dcbryan1

Posted on 01/23/2002 7:29:21 PM PST by DCBryan1

Further proof of Media bias TONIGHT presents itself in Little Rock, Arkansas at the local CBS affliate of KHTV.

Tonight they had a poll which read:

Should parents be held responsible for harm caused by their children involving family owned guns?
Yes
No

At 6PM CST The local newscast notified the public that the poll was on their website at the above URL. They told the public that the results would be posted at their 10PM CST newscast.

At 9:59 PM CST, the poll stated:

KHTV ONLINE POLL

or

(ONLINE KTHV POLL)

Judge for yourself. Is the media biased?

Here is what you can do?

1) Contact KHTV TV and ask why they reported that the 77% Yes/22% NO vote was not what their website reported.

2) Paste, copy, email this thread and comments to Media Research Center and get their opinion.

3) Demand that KHTV either post the true results or give an explanation why they used the 77/22 vote versus the 90+/10 vote.

Thanks!

Should parents be held responsible for harm caused by their children involving family owned guns?

Should government be held as a criminal co-conspirator when a rape or shooting victim didn't have ready access to a gun because it was locked away per government law?

John Stossel made a powerful point on one of his specials. I don't think I can describe it with near the impact that Stossel did, but here goes anyways...

The FDA held a highly effective life-saving drug off the market despite it being successful used in several European countries. Some kind of bureaucratic red-tape/snafu kept the drug from being available in United States.

Stossel continues, last year seven thousand peopled died from xxxxx. Doesn't that mean that the FDA killed seven thousand Americans last year?

I live in Houston and to my knowledge, 39 WB does not have a local newscast. In their pre-WB days, they did run a news broadcast (somewhat conservative and it tried to avoid car crash/cantina shooting stories (as well as the sweeps sex stories)).

I'm aware of this because I had a relative who was an anchor at 39 for awhile.

If you asked the same question three times in an hour, what did you expect them to do.

The point is, you called him lazy. He wasn't. You might back off a little.

Theoretically, you might be right that parents of small children who leave guns unsecured should be responsible for their childrens access, but you must also realize that one of the objectives of the gun control movement is to make the rightful owner responsible for any criminal or civil liabilities from the wrongful use of his guns even if these guns are stolen from him. This is one of the objectives of gun registration. Your gun's stolen and used in a crime, then you're liable. The intent of this objective is to increase the cost of gun ownership. Would you like to be held criminally and civilally liable for the criminal use of your stolen firearm?

I can't believe that almost 97% of the people who did the poll would think that parents shouldn't be held responsible for what their kids do with their guns.

What happened to personal responsibility? Especially if the parents were negligent?

Let's look at it like this...Say, a parent/s do not believe in "Locking up their guns" because it is unsafe to do so...ie, a burglar breaks in/a rapest storms in, you run to the safe and fumble with the combination. You may, or may not get the gun out, if it is not loaded, load it and get a round off into the chest cavity of your assailant.

What if you have strict policy in your home that guns are not toys and they are never to be played with. One day, the parents are on their everyday routine, little Johnny or little Suzie picks up the rifle, starts playing with it, pops off a round, goes through the wall into the nieghbors house and wounds/kills an innocent victim...or, worse case scenario, the kid grabs the gun and goes on a nut in town somewhere(Columbine).

Are the parents responsible for a child who does not listen to the Major laws of the home? The laws that are there for their safety as well as the others in the home? I think not. If the kid is aged thirteen years or older, and pulls a stupid act such as gun violence, he should be tried as an adult and sent to prison.

Now, if the home is not set on rules and regs, then we have an entirely different situation. One which the nazis(gun) use abundantly against the former. Here, it happens with the most seldom occurance. Like other areas of our society, they use the ugliest scenario to regulate the many. If it happens ten times in twenty years with some seriously disfunctional families, I loose my rights. Not right Freeper...not right at all.

The question is poorly phrased.

I'd like to point out that parental negligence was not explicitly mentioned in the question.

"Parents shouldn't be held responsible for what their kids do with their guns" is not what was stated. The phrase was "family owned guns" which sounds like they're trying to sidestep Dr. Kellerman's "gun in the home".

Personal responsibility is responsibility for your own actions. Not those of somebody else.

And if you leave a firearm where a kid can get hold of it, you could be found to be negligent. If the kid takes a drill and takes out the lock on your trigger or your gun cabinet, then probably not.

They had an article that said something like "13 years old shot to death..."( I'm sure those aren't the exact words, though)..right next to where you click to vote. It even had a picture of a pistol to go with it.

The poll was "bias"-ed, "big time". It was an "emotional" poll.

"A kid was shot with one of these!!!! - now vote!!!!"

PS....I wrote them an e-mail....

There's a new #1 seller on the NYT best seller book list. It's titled "Bias", and it explains how news programs twist the truth to push their liberal, ultra left wing socialist agenda.
It's a very good book.
I heard you report the results of an on-line poll, and you reported the results were 77% Yes/22% NO.
Allow me to show you and example of how this fraudulent activity works:

As far as calling me lazy, your a pretty brave (man?). I burn more calories and use more braincells to advance conservative ideas here in Arkansas and online on FreeRepublic before 9AM than you did this month.

Sirgawain, budge...back me up here.

Well, you've never discussed your diet plan with me.
