I can't believe that almost 97% of the people who did the poll would think that parents shouldn't be held responsible for what their kids do with their guns.

What happened to personal responsibility? Especially if the parents were negligent?

Let's look at it like this...Say, a parent/s do not believe in "Locking up their guns" because it is unsafe to do so...ie, a burglar breaks in/a rapest storms in, you run to the safe and fumble with the combination. You may, or may not get the gun out, if it is not loaded, load it and get a round off into the chest cavity of your assailant.

What if you have strict policy in your home that guns are not toys and they are never to be played with. One day, the parents are on their everyday routine, little Johnny or little Suzie picks up the rifle, starts playing with it, pops off a round, goes through the wall into the nieghbors house and wounds/kills an innocent victim...or, worse case scenario, the kid grabs the gun and goes on a nut in town somewhere(Columbine).

Are the parents responsible for a child who does not listen to the Major laws of the home? The laws that are there for their safety as well as the others in the home? I think not. If the kid is aged thirteen years or older, and pulls a stupid act such as gun violence, he should be tried as an adult and sent to prison.

Now, if the home is not set on rules and regs, then we have an entirely different situation. One which the nazis(gun) use abundantly against the former. Here, it happens with the most seldom occurance. Like other areas of our society, they use the ugliest scenario to regulate the many. If it happens ten times in twenty years with some seriously disfunctional families, I loose my rights. Not right Freeper...not right at all.
