Happy to hear this, particularly after some CINO (Conservative in Name Only) in the Wall Street Journal (Tunku Varajadan) condemned the petition drive as "divisive."

So how many times are you gonna post this to "Breaking News"? How can it be "Breaking" if you post it once a day?
Jerk.

Does anyone know if this petition is actually going to be paid attention to by anyone with influence over the matter? I hate to sound negative about it, but a brief look at the website did not reveal any concrete plans to submit it to anyone.
In case anyone is wondering, yes, I did sign the petition, but I'd like some reassurance that it means something.

Thanks. I keep getting emails by the score per hour ... hundreds per day.
I believe the "eanil chain" effect have been kicking in from day two right on through now. This is amazing longevity as most peter out after three to four days max, usually less. The issue had and continues to strike chord and we need to keep pressing it home.
Seeing quite a few from England today.

In addition to signing the petition online, my husband and I wrote (via snall mail) to register our protest.
Today, we received a "thank you for your letter" reply, accompanied by the FDNY Press Release.
The last paragraph of the press releases states:
"Commissioner Scoppetta and Mr. Ratner will consider various possibilities that would pay tribute to all members of the Department, and added that they would continue to discuss and explore ideas to create a lasting, permanent memorial." (emphasis mine)
Sounds like the "raising the flag" memorial is OUT.

Here we are. Use this thread this evening.
I hope to post another thread tomorrow at the 75K mark.
Now at 69450 and still growing steadily.
We will make 70K by 10 PM at this rate, but I expect the rate to slow after 9-10 PM mountain (meaning after 11PM to midnight Eastern) and hope we can make it by 11 PM mountain depending on how much it slows this evening.
