Score one for Apple Wired News Report 10:30 am 20 Sep 99
A preliminary injunction issued by a Japanese court has halted the production and sale of K.K. Sotec's iMac-like eOne computer. Apple had filed a lawsuit on 24 August requesting the injunction, claiming that the rival PC maker ripped off the iMac's distinctive design. See also: Apple Defends its Blueberry Bush The Tokyo District Court issued the injunction, which also prevents K.K. Sotec from selling or exporting the eOne computers, on Monday

Umbrella Condom
To avoid wet umbrellas dribbling over the floor and sales goods, shops in Japan have always provided plastic sheaths for umbrellas at the entrance. So far it has been notoriously difficult to pull these over your umbrellas, but help is now at hand with this foot operated umbrella 'sheather'. Good for walking sticks too!

I wonder if ... um ... gymnasic intercourse would trigger the Quake Bed.

Oh, well. I guess it'd let us menfolk know if she's lying when she says she "felt the Earth move."

Ah yes. Never a dull moment.

My favorite had to have been the high school kid in Kyoto some years back with a T shirt that just said, "ALABAMA: TO BE FAGGOT". He hadn't a clue what it meant (neither did I).

The girl on the Yamanote train line with a "Shit" backpack was curious, too.....

Not just t-shirts - I vividly recall attending the visiting American Ballet Theater in Meiji Jingu in Tokyo...very, very expensively dressed lady in front of me, with a bolero hat and a sequined jacket that spelled out, in all its glory "Who the F*ck Needs Art?"

I cannot imagine what she paid for it, but you know Tokyo prices...
