To: The New York City Council, The New York City Fire Department
We the undersigned citizens of the United States, and concerned citizens from other nations, hereby petition the New York City Fire Department and the City of New York as follows regarding the proposed statue depicting the raising of the US flag at ground zero of the WTC attack by firefighters on September 11, 2001.
1. Immediately change the proposed statue or replace it, such that the actual events of the flag raising are accurately depicted to show those firemen who actually raised the flag doing so. Use the famous picture, shown below, of the flag raising to acurately depict the flag raising as it occurred.
Sincerely,
We had a hugely important issue regarding the government's cutoff of irrigation water in the Klamath Bain of Oregon which is still ongoing. Literally destroying 1400 families over a sucker fish (carpe back east) in the lake built for irrigation.
In over 6 months we've gotten 36K.
I saw one liberal issue amass a couple of hundred thousand in about 10 months, which was a shame, and I believe there was a lot of double signing and fraudulent signing going on over the months ... but I have never seen one do 35K+ in three or four days ... never.
People are REALLY PO's about this.
Don't know. This is Jeff Head's gig.
Read point two of the petition ... to stop trying to use the event to send a PC, Culturally Diverse message of any kind and just show it like it occurred.
The politicians and administration there in NYC are still talking about doing the PC, diverse thing. I believe people do not want that and so despite the fact that the statue part of it may be resolved, people continue to sign due to point two.
So ... we continue on I suppose. The people signing it will decide at this point when it's enough. Volume has slowed, but it's stil;l growing at a good clip.
I thought you would enjoy, if you hadn't seen it already, my favorite response on the petition that I have seen. it's number 11497 from an individual whose family was originally from Puerto Rico ... but a a real American who "gets it".
"WHAT A PATHETIC NATION WE HAVE BECOME when we have to alter history, and the TRUTH, to accomodate bleeding heart liberal, blood sucking interest groups. I am of hispanic origin, my parents were born in Puerto Rico, but i was born here, in the land God himself chose to be America. So what if the firemen who raised our glorious flag were white, they were AMERICANS, showing cowards we cant be pushed around. If you poor unloved, misunderstood crybabies want to be represented in the monument, take a close look and see that you are, in the flag itself. The glorious flag that will wave long after we're all eaten by worms. Political correctness has become morally and politically incorrect. Wake up and smell the coffee before we destroy ourselves. signed, an AMERICAN."That's the spirit that made this nation great and I am humbled to see such an outpouring of it on this issue. Who'd a thunk it?
Closing in on 40,000!..... 39,657 signatures now!
Even though they dropped the PC statue idea (maybe, maybe not), we still need to make the case for the original photo to be memorialized. Firefighters, EMT, rescue teams, policemen and us civvies need to be heard on that.
Amongst all the praise you've received, I never got around to complimenting you on the excellent job you did of writing this petition. It's, like, so right-on and well written.
When the time comes for a petition to the Feds for nothing less than the actual photograph for a monument, are you going to take the lead on that one?
They must be giving in to the 'liberal' tolerance and relativity propaganda. 'Can't we all just get along?' and 'There are no wrong answers.' No accountability.
ForGod'sSake, I even missed catching your 'time variable' typo. Thanks for clearing it up. Always good to know that FReepers math skills are superior to their typing skills. {;~) Have a great weekend.
