Clearly those who falsify data to influence public policy are guilty not only of fraudulently obtaining grant money for their personal enrichment but also they are attempting to have government regulation enforce their policies for their own meglomaniacal satisfaction. Once shown to be frauds no one should ever again take them seriously. One who has used government money to prepetrate such a fraud should never again be allowed any government grant for research. The only funding from the government they should recieve is room and board as a prisoner in a penetentiary.

On a related note, refer to SWL's first of many good links, "Findings" vs. "Facts" In Washington (re: Global Climate Change Act of 2001/2), and you might argue the same about Senators who base legislation on faulty data...

The ends justify the means for the Green Religion. They have the media in their back pocket so they can get away with almost anything.

Good article.... I covered a little of "the tip of the iceberg" about the DDT, asbestos, and Freon scams here:

Scams, Scalawags, and an all-too-gullible Public...famous frauds sold to America

The public's capacity for being led by phoneys with hidden agendas ( inevitably involving money & power over others ) continues to astound me.

I really doubt it Senators have taken an oath to preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United Stataes of America and should be held to a much higher standard. I tend to think Senators who base their decisions on emotion rather than reason and who do not demand truth for their decision making are among the vilest creatures to ever consume oxygen.

They should be impeached - the penalty is never being allowed to work for the Feds (aka us, the taxpayers), and never getting a pension from us. Like x42, I don't see why I should tolerate such people on my payroll.

The people who perpetrate these frauds are clearly in the "end justifies the means" camp. I remember like it was yesterday the prof in my college Biology 101 class talking about environmental issues. He stated that although we were uncertain about the effects of the looming environmental disaster dujour, we needed to take drastic action to make sure we mitigated the disaster. It was better to err on the side of caution, in his opinion. It didn't matter how many people were put out of jobs, we couldn't risk the devastating effects of the environmental disaster dujour. Being reasonably certain didn't enter into the equation. Wow. My parents had no idea they were paying to have me brainwashed. Fortunately, I've grown up and learned a couple of things along the way.

SUMMARY AS OF:

6/6/2001--Introduced.

American Wildlife Enhancement Act of 2001 - Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Programs Improvement Act - Amends the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act to extend through FY 2006 the funding for the Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Account. Revises Account apportionment amounts between the States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.

Prohibits: (1) any State from receiving less than one percent (currently, one-half percent) of such funds; and (2) such funds from being diverted for other purposes.

Authorizes a State, the District, or a territory to apply to the Secretary of the Interior: (1) for approval of a wildlife conservation and restoration program; and (2) to receive funding for such program through such apportionment. Limits to 75 percent the Federal share of such a program. Requires each State receiving an apportionment to develop and implement a wildlife conservation strategy based on the best available scientific information.

Amends the Endangered Species Act of 1973 to authorize the Secretary to: (1) provide financial assistance to any person for development and implementation of an endangered and threatened species recovery agreement; (2) review such agreements; (3) enter into approved agreements; and (4) monitor agreement implementation.

Amends the Partnerships for Wildlife Act to direct the Secretary to establish a competitive program for grants to States to pay the Federal share of the costs of conservation of non-Federal land or water of regional or national significance.<P

Thanks for the flag! I'm still punching holes in my walls, over the gubmint's claim that it can't release the names of criminal "scientists" (who planted animal samples), due to "privacy" constraints.

BTW, what happened to the "bookmark" function?

Perhaps we can find a Rep. or Senator who could sponsor a bill to make a Federal Mandatory Sentence guidline for committing fraud on a Federal Grant study, the punishment being life in prison, no parole?

After all, these frauds not only scam OUR tax $$$, but cause UNTOLD damage to our economy and laws, while advancing their own twisted dementia by fiat, instead of the populace being informed and voting.

Just another example of Elitists telling the citizenry that THEY know what is best...damned EnviroFascists!!!
