On what can be seen as firing a shot across the bow of partisan Democrats, President Bush sent a strong and clear message to Washington and the American people that the economy must not fall victim to the DC standard of gridlock. Bush made it clear in his town hall meeting in Ontario, California, that the economy is the biggest issue to solve in the next year, other than the continuing war on terror. The President tackled questions ranging from the war on terror, to the economy, education, and even fashion. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
Admiration and respect for the president is not star worship IMHO.
How could Lawgirl know what song I was singing just by looking at that picture on the Dose? We need to hire that girl!
The President was great today! I feel so silly applauding in front of my TV set, but that's what his speeches do to me! I wish I could have seen the Oregon speech in its entirety, though.
The lady at the California event who wants to design an outfit for Laura...she said something inaudible, and it must've been flattering, because W. said, "You can repeat that if you want to!" and everybody laughed. Did anyone hear what she said? :-)
You're new here, evidentally, so you don't realize how old and tired your little lecture is. We get this little lecture oh, maybe twice a week, and you know, it never seems to make a difference to
1) those who come here to fawn
2) those who come here to get news on the President, because we never see most of this information, or these pictures on the news.
For instance, without this thread, I probably would never have known about all the foreign trips he made and all the foreign leaders he met in the White House and abroad BEFORE 9-11. So we knew when he called on Jacques Chirac after 9-11 that he'd been buttering the old guy up for months already, laughing at his jokes and nodding intently at his stories.
There is a terrific news value to this thread, and some ladies here, and some gentlemen, too, are just so tickled at having someone praiseworthy in the White House, that yes, they do gush. But that's their business. So, now that you've repeated the lecture for the 100th boring time, please have the manners not to repeat it again.
Rintense: Thanks again! This was a great toen hall meeting! I wish Oregon had been shown. I e-mailed Fox and told them they were out of our house for the evening because they cut him off!
I heard both of President Bush's speeches today and they were wonderful!
Miss "rintense"; welcome back from a well deserved vacation.
I thought that the "not over...." was a direct hit at Dashle, letting him know that he would absolutely veto any attempt to raise taxes.
Read, somewhere here on FR, that there were only 2,000 in that audience. It sure looked like hordes more than that. Did anyone hear the real figure?
And I liked the 'over my dead body' comment. I thought it was a perfect way to separate himself from his father's mistake.
patriciaruth is right. You're boring.
Start speading the news....
So, I believe it was due to divine intervention in the end, not an historic accident.
Nice to have you back ,Roz ;-)
