Yes, the rumors are true. I had the opportunity to ask our president a question today.
First, it began with a statement. Sorry, but I don't remember it exactly ----- Mr. President, my son-in-law recently returned from a cruise on the USS ENTERPRISE. He wants you to know that everyone on that ship, down to the last man and woman, is proud to call you their commander in chief.
He smiled and the crowd gave a huge standing O.
Then one of the event helpers tried to take away the microphone. I politely said no, I hadn't gotten to ask my question.
"Mr. President, now for my question. After you send Tommy Daschle to his room for being bad, please tell us how you plan to end our nation's dependence on foreign oil."
What a fun time and a great right wing audience!

I just knew you'd get a ticket, Doug! I almost got to get in but by the time I got to the Newspaper the tickets were all gone. Congrats on your historic questioning of a Great Man. BTW is this what you were calling me about on Thursday? If not, I'll be in the office at 9am on Monday.

Great work DFU. My wife and I were eating dinner when it came on. We looked at each other laughing because we knew it had to be a freeper. If only you knew how much we despise daschole (with cause). Thanks for breaking the ice and saying what had to be said in front of the nation. I will say it again as I have said on other threads, little tommy has the blood of three doctors on his hands.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
You spoke for all of us, and were both pithy and eloquent at the same time!
"Little Tommy" will never recover!

Oh Man.....do I love that white hat Bush picture on your profile page! That one and the one of him dancing with Laura at the inaugural ball, gazing at her with his loving smile, are my two favorites among the many of them.
Thanks. I thought I had this one on there, but I don't. Is this the one you're talkin' about? I think I might fix that today. . .

Hand-picked audience, my butt. Tickets could be bought from the Chamber and I got mine from my congressman. No one asked party affiliation. Of course, many tickets were given to insiders in the party. But even any RAT spies in the crowd had an equal chance to get a microphone. Nothing was scripted. No screening of comments. I am very relieved to hear that! Really, the 8 years of toon & his goons, their seemingly endless photo-ops, town halls, etc., were an affront to all decent people. A change from that garbage is welcome, indeed.

I agree Tommy's speech was very dull in comparison to GW. I was thinking "and they talk about GW having trouble with public speaking" the whole time. He seemed nervous and unsure, but I guess that happens whey you are lying.
To: No!
TIPS: talk to an official before hand and learn how they determine who will get to ask questions; wave wildly and make sure you get seen; if they say "the man in the back," don't wait for anyone else --- grab for a microphone.

Hubbie and I taped the speech--and the Q&A session, and that's a keeper! Thanks to a heads up on Free Republic, we got to watch the President's speech live--and what a COMMANDING performance it was. His campaign themes of being a "uniter not a divider" may have at first sounded a bit naive, or hollow, but in the light of his actions over the last year, and especially since 9//11, they ring very loud and true.
That is why your comment about your son-in-law was so touching--as was the President's response to it. President Bush is a true CIC--using the military to do what it is designed to do in response to an attack that--very obviously--aroused the wrath of an otherwise "loving" man. And it aroused the wrath of a great nation. Behind that man that nation stands--united--not just at first, but over three very long months.
In contrast to the spirit of unity, here comes Tommy Daschle, beating his drum about "tax cuts for the rich--tax cuts caused a recession". And you give Bush a chance to grin at the "divisive one"--and then set him up for a home run answering a question about energy development.
Thank you DFU--and God Bless President Bush!

I was calling to see if someone at the paper in the entertainment section could do a write up on THE BALLAD OF MIKE MORAN. Have them check out www.firemansong.com. Thanks.

I think Dashole is more evil then the clintons/gores combined!!
To: timestax
I disagree that he is more evil. Perhaps it is that he is just currently more of an irritant. Bill is largely irrelevant and his wife is afraid of appearances because she'll be booed.
