Yes, the rumors are true. I had the opportunity to ask our president a question today.

First, it began with a statement. Sorry, but I don't remember it exactly ----- Mr. President, my son-in-law recently returned from a cruise on the USS ENTERPRISE. He wants you to know that everyone on that ship, down to the last man and woman, is proud to call you their commander in chief.

He smiled and the crowd gave a huge standing O.

Then one of the event helpers tried to take away the microphone. I politely said no, I hadn't gotten to ask my question.

"Mr. President, now for my question. After you send Tommy Daschle to his room for being bad, please tell us how you plan to end our nation's dependence on foreign oil."

What a fun time and a great right wing audience!

Doug, I am cracking up! I was sitting at home watching the speech while I was talking with my mom on the phone. We were just in awe of our President, and then you came on.

I listened to you and I said to my mom, "THIS GUY IS A FREEPER!!!

She laughed at me and did't quite get it. BUT I KNEW!

WAY TO GO!!! Or as the Prez would say, "Good job." When you gave the President that message from the men and women of the Enterprise, and he got tears in his eyes, that was the most touching moment of the whole thing. And when you mentioned Daschle, I thought, as a lot of others did, "If that guy's not a Freeper, he should be!" I liked the question you asked, too. I'm glad you gave the President another opportunity to use the bully pulpit on that issue. It must've been quite a thrill to be so close to the Prez and able to speak to him directly, too. Bravo!!!

He didn't have to do a thing. You did his hit work for him. By the grin on his face and the pause he made, and the fact that he didnt refute it means he was saying thank you. Thank you.
