Gee this crap continues unabated, let alone the fact that older crap like this never ever get's repealed - despite that fact that we have a republican congress? and president? Wow imagine that? I guess I better just keep voting for these same worthless jack*sses like a good little stepford voter.

"Also, Hardiman said Reid and Smith were successful in recruiting a key conservative -Michael Crapo (R-Idaho)"
I'd appreciate your input on Michael Crapo (R-Idaho)

Take a look at this.
I received a personal response from my letter to NRA 1st VP. He assures they are taking a hard look at this. I think there should be an amendment requiring any land purchased with KARA funds be required to continue paying property tax. Many counties are facing deficits because of land that has been taken off the property tax rolls due to gov't purchases.
ff, I know that property taxes isn't your issue, but it's one that would hit close to home with folks I know here. I will pursue this with the Iowa delegation.

government should not own such huge portions of land in the states... all non-military and no-park lands should be given back to the states.

The enumerated powers of congress include:
To exercise exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like authority over all places purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be, for the erection of forts, magazines, arsenals, dockyards, and other needful buildings;
from Article I, section 8 of the Constitution.
That "purchased by the consent of the legislature of the state in which the same shall be" clause, one would think, might actually mean something, but of course, the Supreme Court in all its infinite glorious majesty knows so much better...

This crap makes me sick. I don't even know what to say. I'm furious that the Republicans, the people I voted for, are part of this. Treasonous bastards!

More proof that congress is under the control of self-aggrandizing statists who will do anything to perpetuate their power.
The Republican party has become a near carbon-copy of its more leftist counterpart and is now a staunch advocate and implementer of incremental statism. Those who continue to support it at the national level are contributing to this country's ultimate destruction.
George W. Bush and his chief law enforcement lieutenant, John Ashcroft, already have done much to install the machinery of a future police state.
