I listened too, but only briefly and missed the remarks. If that is so, then it's a blessing for him as well as all of us. Didn't mean to trash the reporter, I get a little defensive about el rushbo. He's a great American, not to mention human being. V's wife.

Yes, that's Carl from Oyster bay. One of the all time great callers to the Bob Grant Show; second only to Frank (I think that was his name, he was an act unto himself-very smart and funny, Vintage Frank). Carl methodically peeled away at the Clinton scandals long before others hopped on the bandwagon. V's wife.

You are 100% right about Charles Sykes. It's been 12 years since I left Milwaukee but I try to catch Sykes every chance I get. Why he hasn't been picked up by a larger market is beyond me. He's always well-prepared, articulate, treats the callers well, and interesting.

"Yeah, but for liberals brain surgery would be an improvement."

Yeah, but wouldn't the surgeons have to use an electron microscope just to find a liberal's brain??? (hehehe....I am soooo bad today! Naughty boy!)

Roger's arguments didn't seem to stand up well to the callers.

man, wasn't he a jerk? he even said one woman had no soul for believing that the wtc families shouldn't be compensated. earlier he was ripping on farmers, just cruelly. i liked him on the past but thought he was an idiot this vaca break. i like that guy from the wash times the best.

did you catch rush's position on the wtc family compensations? i had to get back to work and couldn't hear.

Hedgecock likes to bill himself as a "recovering politician", since he apparently was mayor of SD at one time. Judging by yesterday's performance on the RL show, he is still going through the recovery process.

Didn't Rush say that he conferred with some of the most successful implant patients, and THEY told him that the first week was rather traumatic? It sounded to me like he was relaying others' info to him.

He must have rested his voice well, as it was very smooth and didn't have the rough edges of hoarseness that it had the last few days before he left last month.

I like Hedgecock...but yesterday he was wrong about this money to the 9-11 families. I was glad Rush brought it up today and seems to have the same view as you and I.

Roger Hedgecock (sp?) is an example of what's wrong with 'respectable conservatives' and the Republican party. What's a left leaning idiot like that doing on Rush's show?

I turned the idiot off after a couple of callers. Is this the best California has to offer? I don't think so. Bad choice on Rush's part.

I agree that Rush sounded strong and upbeat. This implant is not a trifle, many people do not respond well to it, and some say they feel they're going insane, because what they now hear sounds nothing like normal hearing. Rush is pretty amazing.

I wouldn't wish a cochlear implant on my worst enemy. Say a prayer for old Rushbo, he is responsible for millions of liberal conversions.

Hedgecock is OK. Some people deserve to be hung up on.

Federal compensation for 9/11 victims is only justifiable in the context that it is an attempt to prevent the airline industry from going bankrupt, a fate which will PROBABLY BEFALL AMERICAN AIRLINES ANYWAY.

I'd rather see the victims get immediate compensation without a bunch of scumsucking lawyers literally taking their pound of flesh.

The Feds routinely waste a lot more of our cash on things more foolish than this. The victims should do their patriotic duty and take the cash.

Whining about adjustments is just plain wrong, as Rush rightly points out.

Thank you for the reply, and yes, prayers on the way as they have been since this first came out.

I was really afraid that Rush's voice was damaged from the medication and the fact that he can't control it as he used to. However, today's show proved that his voice is back and he IS controlling it even now!

He did say that there are advantages to being deaf, so with his attitude, I am sure that whatever the outcome, his strength and faith will see him thru!

Speaking again of prayers ... with all his listeners, and Art Bell's call to prayer for Rush several weeks ago, those prayers will count for much!

Yeah, I actually usually enjoy Roger, but thought he was pretty weak on that point. And then he kind of bullied and browbeat those who disagreed with him; sort of a "Logic weak -- shout here" deal.

This is the email Roger(actually his producer) sent out to his newsletter list today. Makes sense to me:

ROGER does just that on the Rush Show past Wednesday. Topic up is the fed benefits plan for WTC survivors. An effort to curtail like 3-thousand lawsuits that might be brought against airlines, the trade center, and anybody else within legal service distance.

The plan antes up about 1.6 million per victim. ROGER opines that the plan is solid, makes sense and is one of those rare occasions when the gummint (we the people) ought to do victim payouts. Apparently we are far enough away from the horrors of September 11th for folks to have lost some compassion and emotion to ponder the project in pre-911 terms. Anywho the national phones light up with folks taking the boss to task. There hasn't been this much smoke on the Rush Show since...well...since never.

AND IT'S NOT JUST THE PHONES...e-mail begins to flood into Rush's mailbox and ROGER'S San Diego mailbox...yikes!! Folks suggest that a family who loses a loved one in a car accident ought to get loot, somebody shot by a mugger and what about the folks in Oklahoma City. Whew!! Shouldn't private charity do the job? Boss is adamant. Sticks to his guns. And in the final tally we guess you gotta admit that it's a rock and a hard place problem. Imagine thousands of folks rushing into court. The airlines are already near dead. Various companies inside WTC would have been sued and those companies are nearly busted too. The building folks sued. Courts clogged and the winners, when the verdict is a win for the victim survivors, would be the trial lawyers who grab the percentage cash up front. Victims still have the option to sue (and forgo the compensation plan) but this way they get a reasonable amount of money (quite reasonable in some cases) without the terror of going to court.

AS FOR HAVING THE GUMMINT do the compensation? Well we certainly do a lot of compensating already. Farm subsidies. Sugar subsidies. Seems everybody with a hand and some lobby clout in D.C. gets our cash. We bail out the S&L's...we'll do something for the victims of Enron (even Rush admits that). At least in this instance the folks who are getting the money aren't rich fat cats (for the most part) but our fellow citizens. Right or Wrong the compensation plan really is a way out of a legal nightmare that would mostly enrich the law degree folks. ANYWHO ROGER made enough noise about this topic on Wednesday that it lasted over til Thursday when Rush returned to his show...and the e-mail still pours in. Gotta keep ROGER away from hornet nests. Note: ROGER on tap to sub for Rush later this month for a couple of days. Yikes!!
