Single Adult “Freepers” – New Year’s …What About Next Christmas?

Last week I posted a opinion piece about “Single and Alone for the Holidays” (No I’m not going to post a link! That article has run it’s course.)

You would be surprised at the number of responses I received via “Freep Mail” (There were millions!…well dozens.) Anywho, the thought occurred and was suggested by “Texana RED” (thanks for giving me permission to use your name) that next year we should have a Freeper Christmas Party for those of us who are single adults.

The original thread (No, I’m still not going to post a link.) was about how non-responsive churches are to the needs of single adults, especially during the “Holidays.”

What do you think? …About the idea of a Freeper Christmas party, I mean.

Think about what you did this last week… do you want to go through the same next year? Tell us! Maybe we all can make it happen!(The party...not the link to the other thread...which I still refuse to post!)

What are your plans for this New Years?

In SD, nearly every single elected official we have on every level is a GOP'er. We just have the big Daschle/Johnson stain. BTW, Vermont is way cool.

Riesling seems to be making a comeback. I've noticed it more in the stores lately. Maybe folks are getting tired of swilling Chardonney and are looking for something different.

I always have a bottle of Chateau St. Michelle Reisling stashed in the fridge.

Flatlanders. LOL. I love that term and first heard it on the CNN gun boards by a pro-2aer. Over in the Upper Penn of Michigan, the term used there for those from the Detroit area are TROLLS.

How much would you pay for a regular ol' bottle of plonk

Here in Vermont? Hmm...I'm trying to think of an average. Local fruit wines can go for under $10, but I think $13 or so for a decent bottle of wine is about right. Not sure how that would translate.

I don't normally like German wine (I find most of the white's are quiet sweet. But I liked the Riesling!)

I agree with you there...I came to Germany as an 18 yo kid with little experience with alcoholic beverages, and used to ask for sweeter wines - and there are a lot of German wines that ARE sweet. I was surprised the first time I went to a wine tasting and found I liked the drier stuff better.

My biggest trouble is that I learned the German names of most of the wines I liked (they base them on the grape variety, I think?) and I sometimes have trouble figuring out how to pick something I like now. I still haven't gotten all them French words straightened out, silly as it sounds. Connoisseur I ain't.

PS - Dad's a WWII vet - part of the Big Red One infantry.

In that case, make sure you give him a infantry salute from me while making a toast to the everlasting glory of the infantry,ok?

There's a t-shirt I see here occasionally: the view looking into the barrel of a shotgun, and the caption "BACK-OFF, FLATLANDER!" I love it!

Thanks sneakypete! Appreciate the interest!

Gotta tell ya though...Even I gave up trying to keep this thread "On-Track" about a hundred and twenty-five posts ago! :)

Have a Great New Years!

BTW, Vermont is way cool.

Yeah, it is, with the exception of the politics. I love being in a rural area, for one. And it's a truly beautiful place. Not to mention NO one questions the second amendment here...I had to laugh when last Halloween, one guy at work came dressed as a hunter, complete with rifle. Not only did no one question it, but I think about everyone in the company came by over the course of the day to check it out. :-)

I'm still suprised with all the flatlanders there now, that there hasn't been as many new ASD(anti self defense) laws, especially from Burlington.

Same here on both the rural thing, and the 2nd amendment thing. Everyone here owns a gun, unless they're transplants.

Well, I thought my post #107 cartoon was funny because of the "speed" dating/"hello-goodbye" connection there. And, I hope you were not offended by it, as I did not intend to offend.

In any event -- sounds like you will have a full house for your party next year!

BTW -- I also think this cartoon is LOL funny. However, maybe one has to have a prior life as a fulltime liberal to really appreciate it:
