Single Adult “Freepers” – New Year’s …What About Next Christmas?

Last week I posted a opinion piece about “Single and Alone for the Holidays” (No I’m not going to post a link! That article has run it’s course.)

You would be surprised at the number of responses I received via “Freep Mail” (There were millions!…well dozens.) Anywho, the thought occurred and was suggested by “Texana RED” (thanks for giving me permission to use your name) that next year we should have a Freeper Christmas Party for those of us who are single adults.

The original thread (No, I’m still not going to post a link.) was about how non-responsive churches are to the needs of single adults, especially during the “Holidays.”

What do you think? …About the idea of a Freeper Christmas party, I mean.

Think about what you did this last week… do you want to go through the same next year? Tell us! Maybe we all can make it happen!(The party...not the link to the other thread...which I still refuse to post!)

What are your plans for this New Years?

Actually the only thing around here that's evil is this stupid computer!!!! Whevever I get a new one I'm not just going to throw this one in the trash, I'm going to shoot it, run over it with my car, and then dump it in a lake where it can't cause any more pain(after taking out the cadmium battery, of course). LOL

I hung mine from the oak tree in my yard. Whenever the new one acts up, I just take it over to the window and say, "SEE?"

Dan and any other Freepers - is Silicon Valley near Altadena? I have a sister-in-law who just turned 36, is dynamite looking, and single. She works doing production for televisions shows (e.g., Friends) but meets mainly media, fast-lane types who she'd prefer not to date. She grew up in Newport Beach is athletic, in good shape, and interesting. I'd *love* it if she met a Freeper. Anybody out there near LA??

Methinks the drunk Catholics with Gateways need to bring their computers to the drunk Catholics with shotguns table, or the shotgun Catholics need to visit the Gateway table. "Could I get a hand over here? Got a Gateway that needs to be put out of its misery!"

Silicon Valley is close to the Bay Area. I do not know where Altadena is offhand. San Jose is part of Silicon Valley.

Sounds very intersting, but I'm just shy of my 23rd birthday here.

Churches have no responsibility for singles any more than they do married couples: In other words, both are just as valuable, and catering to one is wrong. It is not the job of the church to find you a mate.

It is the job of fellow Freepers to find you one.....

OK! THAT'S IT! WERE GONNA SEAT ALL OF YOU AS CLOSE TO THE BAND AND AS FAR AWAY FROM MAJOR STRASSER AS POSSIBLE!

The dinner dance will be followed by the traditional Gateway burning in the parking lot! Gateway representatives will be present to sell you new systems on the spot!

Irish Catholic Drunks will be allowed to dance around the fire... Protestants with shotguns will act as security, Irish Catholic drunks with shotguns will monitor the Protestants with shotguns and the fundamentalists get to sit back and say, tsk, tsk.!

I thought it was in LA or Orange County. I wasn't positive though.

I have a good excuse for not knowing. I'm a mid Michigan guy that has never been west of Texas.

Agreed, but I don't think that's what grumpster was saying...it's just that there tend to be lots of church activities / parties / whatever aimed at kids or families...not so many for those of us that are single. I don't think it's the churches' job to have dating services, but I DO wish they had singles dinners or clubs or something. The Protestant/Catholic chapel at the base I was stationed at in Germany had a great thing going: basically just a building we could gather at on Saturday nights with plenty of (non-alcoholic...sorry guys!) refreshments available. People could hang out and talk or just meet up and go do something else. I met most of my best friends there.

It is the job of fellow Freepers to find you one.....

THAT would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath...as much as I love Vermont (the county I'm in is actually pretty conservative), it isn't exactly the greatest place to meet conservatives.

They must think you are a democrat since you are from Southern Cal then.....:)

I'm glad they are nicer to you then they were to me. They assumed I was an idiot.

That's the very best excuse you can have! I've always made it a point to say that I'm NOT from here... most of them don't get it, though.

Ah, but they would've been right- with computers I AM an idiot, and I don't care if they think so, as long as they fix it. The thing is, they fixed something caused by a power surge (not their fault) under the warrantee. I may be their only loyal customer simply because of that.
